Correlated genetic response in survival to selection for high growth has not been reported in giant freshwater prawn (GFP) (Macrobrachium rosenbergii). The main aim of this study was to measure genetic changes and estimate heritability for this character (survival rate) and its genetic associations with body traits in a GFP population selected over eight generations from 2008 to 2015.

Recently, there has been a growing interest in the genetic improvement of body measurement traits in farm animals. They are widely used as predictors of performance, longevity, and production traits, and it is worthwhile to investigate the prediction accuracies of genomic selection for these traits.

The genetics underlying body mass and growth are key to understanding a wide range of topics in biology, both evolutionary and developmental. Body mass and growth traits are affected by many genetic variants of small effect. This complicates genetic mapping of growth and body mass. Experimental intercrosses between individuals from divergent populations allows us to map naturally occurring genetic variants for selected traits, such as body mass by linkage mapping.

Characterization of respiratory phenotypes can enhance complex trait and genomic studies involving allergic/autoimmune and infectious diseases. Many aspects of respiration can be measured using devices known as plethysmographs that can measure thoracic movement.

A study was conducted to evaluate the performance of Native × CSFL F1 crossbred chicks up to 8 weeks of age under intensive management system. Ninety (90) chicks were used for this study. Body weight and feed intake were recorded weekly. The body conformation traits were measured at 6th and 8th weeks of age. The 8th week body weight of males and females were 1016.97±45.13g and 830.33±19.64g respectively.

In this study, we conducted a chronic toxicity assessment of di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) on the life history traits of Daphnia magna across three generations. In the first generation, the neonates (called F0 Daphnia) were raised in a control environment (C, toxin-free medium) or in a medium containing DEHP at three concentrations 5, 50, and 500 µgl-1, abbreviated as P5, P50, and P500, respectively. The offspring from the F0 control (called F1 Daphnia) were raised in toxin-free medium (denoted as C-C).
