Petroleum is a complex mixture composed primarily of aliphatics, alicyclics and aromatic hydrocarbons. This study was to evaluate the potentials of native bacterial population of wastewater environment with the ability for bioremediation of petroleum hydrocarbon polluted natural environment. A fresh water ecosystem west of Lagos state university, Ojo campus that has the history of being fed with both domestic wastewater and spent diesel oil served as source of bacterial samples. Serial dilution technique and total heterotrophic bacterial count for the wastewater was evaluated.

My many visits to Australia were made much more enjoyable by my friendship with Phil Tresidder. Phil was a press man who covered it as it was. He wasn’t a sensationalist and he didn’t manufacture things. I have so many great memories of Phil and of Australia. I well remember playing the Augusta course with Phil the morning after my last US Masters win in 1978, and in turn playing several rounds at his home course, Bonnie Doon, in Sydney. I used to meet him at various golf tournaments around the world and enjoyed finding out what was happening in Australia.

Articles in the Penn TreeBank were identified as being reviews, summaries, letters to the editor, news reportage, corrections, wit and short verse, or quarterly profit reports. All but the latter three were then characterised in terms of features manually annotated in the Penn Discourse TreeBank — discourse connectives and their senses. Summaries turned out to display very different discourse features than the other three genres. Letters also appeared to have some different features.
