Botanical characteristics

This third recorded yellow-flowered species of the genus is characterized by the absence of stolons, glabrous young leaves, smaller leaves with short petioles, compacted inflorescence with short peduncles, rays and pedicels, white upper lobes of corolla with yellow margin and purple lines throughout, undulate disc-lobes and glabrous ovary. The new taxon is described and illustrated with field photographs of detailed botanical characteristics and assessed as CR following the IUCN Redlist Categories. A key to all yellowflowered Billolivia taxa is provided.

Arisaema vietnamense is described as a new species from Pu Ta Leng Mountain in Tam Duong District of Lai Chau province. This find expands the hitherto Sino-Himalayan distribution of Arisaema sect. Nepenthoidea southwards to Vietnam, adding to the six sections with twenty six species already known for the country. The new taxon is described and illustrated with field photographs of detailed botanical characteristics.

The study "Study on morphology, biology of Thrips palmi and efficiency of different concentration of neem leaf extract on dragon fruit" on this pest on dragon fruit has not yet been conducted. The growers at focus dragon fruit areas do not know the timing of peak thrips population, or which methods to use to control them. Thus, study on morphological and biological characteristics of Melon thrips and efficacy of some botanical and so insecticides to control the thrips on dragon fruit was performed.

The present study was carried out to recognize the effect of garlic different concentrations on control against Alternaria and Fusarium spp. under in-vitro condition. Per cent growth inhibitions were recorded and it was ranged from 64.90 to 90.12% and 60.91 to 92.40% for Alternaria and Fusarium spp. respectively. Garlic concentration 20%show best results with 90.12% and 92.40% inhibition of both the pathogen.

Freshly harvested apple fruits of cultivar Starking Delicious were subjected to different treatment combinations. In this study, an unknown mushroom species collected on rotting trunks of Ficus elastica in the Hanoi Botanical Garden was investigated. It was designated as Bt116. Based on the observed morphological characteristics, such as irregularly semi-circular, slightly yellow pileus; very soft, homogeneous, spongy, creamy white context; short and not clear stipes; and basidiospores typical of ganoderma mushrooms, etc., we hypothesized that Bt116 belongs to the Tomophagus Murr. mushroom genus.
