An approximate method is proposed for determining the aerodynamic effect of coherent vortex structures (CVS) of atmospheric turbulence on an aircraft. As a source of the CVS the vortex wind wakes arising when the atmospheric wind flows around the mountain massif of the Son Tra peninsula, located near the Da Nang airport, and the vortex wake behind the Su-27 type aircraft in the landing configuration are considered.

In this method, the internal DOFs are separated from the boundary DOFs, and decomposed onto a basis of static modes, and a basis of fixed interface modes [Craig et Bampton, 1968]. The use of a reduced basis for the fixed interface modes makes it possible to reduce the size of the system to be solved, and therefore to save the computational time compared to a classical finite element computation involving the complete system.

The aim of this paper is to validate experimentally a nonlinear model of a kinematically excited hinged-simply supported beam with a spring subjected to one end. An experimental setup configuration enables to test different variants of axial boundary conditions: first a typical simply supported beam (no spring), and next two different spring systems.

In this study, a semi-analytical solution of the Reynolds equation based on the Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method (SBFEM) is developed to reduce the numerical effort of the overall simulation. In contrast to a purely numerical solution, the two-dimensional pressure field is discretized in only one coordinate direction, whereas in the other direction, an analytical formulation is used.

In this paper, the problem of surface wave propagating in an elastic half-space media is investigated by boundary element method. The boundary element method is studied to obtain the far-field displacements generated by time-harmonic loads. An elegant treatment for the truncated point on the boundary is provided in which omitted parts of the boundary are substituted by two fictitious boundaries in the end of two sides of boundary by using reciprocity theorems.

In this research, we investigated the effects of positions and sizes of entrance on the water flow in a rice field. We proposed mathematical models with three different designs of entrance on the rice field of 2301 square meters. The flow in the models is described by continuity and Navier-Stokes equations. The models are solved by finite element method in a 2D system with three positions of the entrance: left, right and central of the rice field for the entrance of 0.25 meters wide, 0.5 meters wide and 1 meter wide, respectively.

In this paper, free vibration of bidirectional functionally graded sandwich (BFGSW) beams is studied by using a finite element formulation. The beams made from three distinct materials are composed of three layers, a homogeneous core and two bidirectional FGM face layers with material properties varying in both the thickness and longitudinal directions by power gradation laws. Based on the first-order shear deformation theory, a finite element formulation is derived and employed to compute the vibration characteristics of the beams with various boundary conditions.
