IFN-γ has been traditionally recognized as an inflammatory cytokine that involves in inflammation and autoimmune diseases. Previously we have shown that sustained IFN-γ induced malignant transformation of bovine mammary epithelial cells (BMECs) via arginine depletion. However, the molecular mechanism underlying this is still unknown.

Chemokine (C-X-C motif) receptor 1 (CXCR1 or IL-8RA) plays an important role in the bovine mammary gland immunity. Previous research indicated polymorphism c.980A > G in the CXCR1 gene to influence milk neutrophils and mastitis resistance. In the present study, four c.980AG heifers and four c.980GG heifers were experimentally infected with Staphylococcus chromogenes.

Klebsiella pneumoniae, an environmental pathogen causing mastitis in dairy cattle, is often resistant to antibiotics. K. pneumoniae was used as the host bacteria to support bacteriophage replication; 2 bacteriophages, CM8-1 and SJT-2 were isolated and considered to have therapeutic potential.

Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) derived from gram-negative bacterial are often regarded as primary inducer of bovine mammary inflammation. This study evaluated the biological response of metformin activated AMPK signaling on LPS-induced inflammatory responses and metabolic changes in primary bovine mammary epithelial cells (pbMEC). The pbMEC were exposed to either 3 mmol/L Metf. for 12 h as Metf. group (Metf.) or 2 μg/mL LPS for 6 h as LPS group (LPS).

Bovine milk is an important nutrient source for humans. Forage plays a vital role in dairy husbandry via affecting milk quality and quantity. However, the differences in mammary metabolism of dairy cows fed different forages remain elucidated. In this study, we utilized transcriptomic RNA-seq and iTRAQ proteomic techniques to investigate and integrate the differences of molecular pathways and biological processes in the mammary tissues collected from 12 lactating cows fed corn stover (CS, low-quality, n = 6) and alfalfa hay (AH, high-quality, n = 6).

It is known that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an important role in various biological processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. However, their functions and profiles in lactation cycle of dairy cows are largely unknown. In this study, lncRNA-seq technique was employed to compare the expression profiles of lncRNAs and mRNAs from Chinese Holstein mammary gland in dry and lactation period.

The knowledge base-driven pathway analysis is becoming the first choice for many investigators, in that it not only can reduce the complexity of functional analysis by grouping thousands of genes into just several hundred pathways, but also can increase the explanatory power for the experiment by identifying active pathways in different conditions.

This study investigates the physical and microbial parameters of bovine colostrum powder. Colostrum is the first mammary secretion for 24 - 48 hours after parturition and is a complex fluid rich in immune factors and growth factors. Studies have indicated that the immune boosting properties of bovine colostrum are beneficial for human beings with no reports of allergic or anaphylactic reactions. Colostrum powder was prepared by spray drying the whole colostrum.

Dairy industry is gradually emerging as a major player in the field of agricultural economy. Consequently the management scene and concomitant disease control regimen have become more important for production and economic reasons. Despite innovations in various therapeutic regimens and improved management practices, mastitis unfortunately has remained ever green.

Mastitis is the inflammation of the mammary gland and udder tissue, and is a major endemic disease of dairy cattle. It is also the most costly disease to the dairy industry. Bovine mastitis caused by Escherichia coli (E.coli) and Staphylococcus aureus can ranges from being a subclinical infection of the mammary gland to a severe systemic disease. Antimicrobial resistance is generally not a limiting factor for treatment, but it should be monitored to detect changes in resistance profiles.

Bovine mastitis, the most significant disease of dairy herds. It has a huge effect on dairy farming economics due to the reduction in milk production and treatment cost. The severity of this problem can be classify into subclinical, clinical and chronic form and its degree is dependent on the nature of the causative pathogen, age of animal, immunological status, health status and lactation status of the animal. Subclinical mastitis is difficult to detect due to absence of any visible indications.

Bovine mastitis is a large-scale infectious disease of the mammary gland with significant impact on the economy of milk production along with alterations in its quality. A total of 100 mastitis suspected milk samples were collected from different organized dairy farms of Bikaner city and were evaluated for isolation, identification and antibiotic sensitivity pattern of Escherichia coli. Out of 100 mastitis suspected milk samples, 24 samples were positive for Escherichia coli (24.0%).

Lipocalin-2 (LCN2) is a 25-kDa protein in the lipocalin family that shows antibacterial activity. The aim of this study was to clone human LCN2 into the mammalian-specific pIRES2-AcGFP1 vector and to determine the antibacterial activity of the recombinant pIRES2-AcGFP1-hLCN2 plasmid against major bacterial pathogens that cause bovine mastitis.
