Braking efficiency

This paper presents a study to evaluate the effectiveness of auxiliary braking systems that are necessary when designing improvements for van trucks when descending hills. The results of the study show the clear effectiveness of auxiliary braking systems in different operating conditions, which provides a basis for the development and improvement of braking systems in the future.

In this paper, the combustion phase optimization is analyzed and ignition timing of SI engines is controlled to maximize the fuel efficiency. Particularly, the optimum set point of the combustion phase and moving average based control strategy are discussed to extract information about the fuel efficiency from the combustion.

All the experiments are conducted at a constant engine speed (1500rpm) under the full load conditions of the engine and the results revealed that a considerable enhancement of brake thermal efficiency of the MWCNT’s than WFOME and SOME, combustion characteristics are changed when compared to neat diesel fuel and caused of biodiesel with MWCNT’s reduced in oxides of carbon (CO and CO2) unburnt hydrocarbons (UHC) oxides of nitrogen (NOX) emissions and smoke opacity.

This research utilized low cost feedstock of waste beef tallow for biodiesel synthesis and its application in a CI engine. The biodiesel and diesel blends B0, B20, B40, B60, B80 and B100 were used in a stationary tractor diesel engine. Performance and emission parameters brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC), brake thermal efficiency (BTE), exhaust gas temperature (EGT), carbon monoxide (CO), oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and hydrocarbon (HC) were tested at a constant speed of 2000 rpm and varying loads.

Dilution of the intake air of the SI engine with the inert gases is one of the emission control techniques like exhaust gas recirculation, water injection into combustion chamber and cyclic variability, without scarifying power output and/or thermal efficiency (TE). This paper investigates the effects of using argon (Ar) gas to mitigate the spark ignition engine intake air to enhance the performance and cut down the emissions mainly nitrogen oxides. The input variables of this study include the compression ratio, stroke length, and engine speed and argon concentration.
