Brinjal mite

The field experiment was carried out on farmers holding at Melur block of Madurai dt using the popular brinjal variety Kallampatti local during summer 2016 to evaluate the efficacy of certain promising plant derivatives against major sucking pests of brinjal viz., aphids, brown plant hopper, thrips, whiteflies and two spotted spider mites.

An experiment was carried out during the year 2014-15 to 2016-17 in the polyhouse of AINP on Agricultural Acarology to estimate the losses due two spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch (Tetranychidae: Acari). The estimated loss in brinjal due to two spotted spider mite, T. urticae on different plant growth characters like plant height, number of branches per plant, number of fruits per plant and fruit weight ranging between 8.24 to 33.65, 7.84 to 13.35, 26.94 to 64.93 and 15.29 to 81.10 per cent, respectively.

A field experiment was conducted at Main Vegetable Research Station,Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujarat) during kharif-rabi seasons of the year 2014-15 and 2015-16 to assess the efficacy of different nine acaricides against brinjal miteviz., fenazaquin 0.01%, diafenthiuron 0.05%, spiromesifen 0.02%, dicofol 0.05%, ethion 0.05%, chlorfenapyr 0.01%, propargite0.06%, fenpyroximate 0.005% as well as wettable sulphur 0.16% compared with control.

To evaluate the effectiveness of different doses of spiromesifen 22.9 SC against brinjal mite, an experiment was conducted in the field of Main Vegetable Research Station, Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujarat) during the season of kharif-rabi, 2016-17. Two different doses of spiromesifen 22.9 SC of Meghmani Organics Ltd. with two doses of marketed product of spiromesifen @ 96 and 192 g a.i./ha were evaluated against brinjal mite. The tested product of Meghmani Organics Ltd. i.e. spiromesifen 22.9 SC @ 192 g a.i.
