  • In this paper, techniques as popular math-tools for sensing algorithms are mentioned. Due to assumption from the knowledge of primary signal, algorithms are categorized by approaches to present. Additionally, motivated by sensing in TV frequency range, the authors narrow the investigation on algorithms for the primary signals of digital video broadcasting.

  • Nowadays, the demand for high-quality multimedia services (video, audio, image, and data) is rapidly increasing. The Digital Video Broadcasting - terrestrial (DVB-T) standard, its second-generation version (DVB-T2), and the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) standard are the most promising systems to fulfill the demand for advanced multimedia services (e.g., high-definition image and video quality), especially in Europe. However, LTE mobile services can operate in a part of the UHF band allocated to DVB-T/T2 TV services previously.

  • Digital broadcast systems have increasingly been deployed for various services such as Digital Video Broadcasting (i.e. DVB-S, DVB-T, etc.) and Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB). Classical digital broadcast systems were designed with fixed modulation guarantee reliable communication even with very hostile channel environment. DVB-T2 terrestrial television standard is becoming increasingly important. The emergence of it is motivated by the higher spectral efficiency and adopting transition from analogue TV to DVB-T2, or transition from DVB-T to DVB-T2.

  • In this paper we propose a MIMO channelprecoder that utilizes channel statistical structure and is suitable for terrestrial broadcasting systems, while being potentially transparent to the receivers. The performance of the channel-precoder is evaluated in a wide set of channel scenarios and mismatched channel conditions, a typical situation in the broadcast setup.

  • The data described above allow us to calculate the number of years of a given student’s early childhood in which television sig- nals were available. In order to make the magnitudes we measure in the analysis below more easily interpretable, we will also use data on the rate at which television ownership actually diffused among households in each county. We will use the term televi- sion exposure to refer to the expected number of years a child’s household owned a television during the child’s preschool years.

  • The amount of GI spectrum awarded to MuxCo (an 8 MHz package which creates one local multiplex in each location) is sufficient to carry three videostreams at each location12 . Capacity sufficient to deliver a local service at each location will be reserved for licensed local services. MuxCo‘s licence will extend to all designated locations, and at each of these it will be required to utilise the spectrum for the purpose of designing, building and operating local broadcasting infrastructure.

  • An audience will be able to immerse themselves in content to an extent that suits them. The majority will continue to consume most TV passively, but those more invested in a particular program will be able to access and interact with richer story elements during and between episodes. Unique story elements in different channels will be integrated with audience responses and reactions to become part of a single narrative, which permeates more deeply into people’s lives.

  • The development of multi-channel digital broadcasting has generated a demand not only for new services but also for smart and highly functional capabilities in all broadcast-related devices. This is especially true of the television receivers on the viewer's side. With the aim of achieving a friendly interface that anybody can use with ease, we built a prototype interface system that operates a television through voice interactions using natural language.

  • Since the 1990s, digital signals have been increasingly used not only in various industries and engineering equipments but also in everybody’s daily necessities. Mobile phones, TV receivers, music CDs, multimedia computing, etc, are the indispensable items in modern life, in which digital formats are taken as a basic form for carrying and storing information. The major reason for the advancement in the use of digital signals is the big leap forward in the popularization of microelectronics and computing technology in the past three decades.

  • The term ‘microwaves’ is used for those wavelengths measured in centimetres roughly from 1 m. to 0.1 cm or the bands of frequencies between 300 MHz to 300 GHz. Microwaves are most popularly used in point to point communication, TV broadcasting via satellites and in RADAR systems. Besides these, they are also being used in industrial, biomedical, chemical and in scientific research applications. The latest wide acceptance of the microwave application is as “microwave heating” in synthesizing various compounds (organic and inorganic) in research laboratories as well as in industries....
