The present investigation was undertaken to know the various management practices adopted by buffalo owners. A sample of 200 farmers was classified into three categorized viz., small, medium and large based on the land holdings, in Katol tahsil.

The study sample comprised of 2 cattle market. 15 sellers, 15 buyers and 15 brokers from each market were selected randomly. Study revealed that, in the total marketing cost, preparation cost accounted to be the highest in case of Buffalo followed by Bullock and Cow respectively.

A purposive study was conducted on 300 Nili Ravi buffalo farmers selected from four agroclimatic zones of Punjab. The data was collected by personal interview cum questionnaire schedule consisting the feeding practices followed by the farmers. Data revealed that Majority (86.33%) of the farmers were doing group feeding and only (13.67%) of the farmers were doing individual feeding.

Lymphadenopathy referred as lymph node enlargement is the most common problem in dogs, may be due to inflammatory or non-inflammatory conditions including neoplasm.In case of cattle and buffalo, Theileriosis showed lymph node enlargement as the most common complaint. It is not a specific disease entity but an important clinical finding; the cause should be ascertained to attempt treatment and prognosis. Enlargement of lymph nodes often occurs following the proliferation of resident normal cells or infiltration of outside normal or abnormal cells.

The study was emphasized on awareness of buffalo owner about causes of buffalo infertility in Panchmahals district (Gujarat). Total 200 buffalo owners were selected with using simple random sampling method from 20 villages of 5 talukas of Panchmahals district. There was 62.00 percent of buffalo owners had medium level of awareness about causes of buffalo infertility.

Uterine torsion is one of the common obstetrical problems encountered in buffaloes, if not treated properly may lead to death of the fetus subsequently the dam causing economic loss to the farmers. The occurrences of uterine torsion in buffaloes in relation to species, breed, parity, season, stage of gestation, side of torsion, site of torsion, degree of uterine torsion, duration of uterine torsion, fetal presentation, position and posture, sex of the fetus, livability of the fetus, survivability of the dam following detorsion, predisposing factors and etiological factors were reviewed.

A field survey was conducted to collect the relevant information on buffaloes managemental practices followed by 3932 responded in 22 villages of Udaipur district of Rajasthan. Closed type of house was provided by 48.50 % of the framers. Kaccha type of roof and floor were observed in 92.20% and 96.77% of the houses, respectively.

Dystocia or difficulty in parturition is a commonly seen in cattle and buffaloes among the domestic animals. The condition can occur as result of numerous factors. This condition when it occurs in a heifer, foetomaternal disproportion becomes the main causative factor. Such conditions often need a caesarean section in order to save the life of the dam. The reproductive ability of buffalo is reduced during summer season. The present study was conducted on 60 postpartum cyclic buffaloes (>45 days in milk) to assess the ovarian activity and fertility rate following modified Heatsynch protocol. A study was conducted at the Banaras Hindu University Dairy Farm to estimate the effects of feeding management practices on rearing of animals and milk production in terms of economic analysis. The data pertaining to the feeds and feeding systems being followed and their input costs were collected from the records maintained for all the animals at the dairy farm. The lactation yield of cows and buffaloes has been worked out to 996 and 1150 Litres, respectively. The cost of daily feeding per head and per Litre of milk has been estimated to Rs. 60.26 and Rs. 10.80, respectively.

A field study was undertaken to find out the shelter management practices followed by the farmers of Patan district of North Gujarat region. Five talukas were randomly selected for the study viz., Patan, Sidhpur, Chanasma, Harij and Santalpur. Three villages were selected from each taluka and from each village 10 respondents who reared buffalo either alone or mixed with cattle were selected by using a multistage random sampling technique. The analyses revealed that majority (58.00%) of the respondents were from the old age group (above 45 yrs.).

Detection of viral antigen by direct fluorescent antibody test (FAT) from clinical samples collected from cattle and buffaloes of Navsari, Surat and Valsad Districts of Southern Gujarat were carried out. Out of a total of 116 clinical samples (44-cattle, 72-buffaloes) tested, fluorescence was observed in 14 (12.09%) samples. Species-wise, eight cattle (11.11%) and 6 buffaloes (13.64%) were found to be positive by the test. A total of 300 milk samples from buffaloes were evaluated for mastitis and incidence of E. coli. Overall, 157 milk samples (52.33%) were positive for mastitis and out of these positive isolates, 27 bacterial isolates (17.19 %) were identified as E. coli. All the 27 isolates of E. coli were tested for in vitro sensitivity towards 15 antibacterial drugs.

The present case reports on management of complete uterine prolapse in Murrah buffalo in her 4rth lactation at Astron Dairy Farms, Roorkee, Uttarakhand. The animal completely recovered after proper treatment, management and care. The condition of uterine prolapse as well as the post case precautions for the diseased animal was followed up and presented the positive result of complete recovery without any complication.

A field survey was conducted in and around R.S. Pura tehsil of Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir, India and data was collected from 120 respondents belonging to Gujjar community through specially designed questionnaire by random sampling method. The study revealed that majority of farmers fed concentrate and roughages to their animals and depend on bore wells as a source of drinking water to their buffaloes. About 63.34% respondents fed colostrum within 1h of birth of calves followed by 25.83% fed between 1- 3h and 13% fed after 3h of birth of calves.

Samples of milk from buffalo, cow, goat milk, samples of dairy products from paneer and curd were used for analysis of physico-chemical parameters viz fat, protein, moisture, ash, T.S., S.N.F. and lactose. Maximum fat percentage among milk product samples was observed in paneer which ranged 14.67+0.421 followed by cow milk 6.421+0.0.107. The maximum protein percentage was observed in paneer 12.978+0.244.
