Cage system

This paper presents an improved method of direct torque control (DTC) for three–phase asynchronous motors with squirrel cage rotors. The improved method of DTC uses three sliding mode controllers to control torque and flux independently.

Three hundred and sixty numbers of day old desi chicks were randomly divided into six treatment groups with three replicates of 20 chicks each per group. Out of 180 desi chicks were reared under deep litter system and remaining 180 chicks were reared under cage system. The experimental birds were fed with three different levels of dietary crude protein (18, 20 and 22 per cent) with an isocaloric feed of 2800 Kcal ME / kg and potable water given ad libitum.

The study was undertaken on Cobb-400 strain of broiler birds (n=300) reared on battery cage system with standard protocols to know the comparative efficacy of 4 commonly used coccidiostats through haematological alterations in experimentally E. tenella infected birds. Fifty day-old chicks each of T1, T2, T3 and T4 group were given coccidiostat Diclazuril (0.1%), Salinomycin (12%), Diclazuril + Salinomycin and Maduramicin (1 %) at a dose rate of 100, 50, 100+50 and 50 g/100 kg feed, respectively. The present investigation was conducted to study the effects of different housing systems on growth performance, feed consumption, morbidity and mortality of broiler rabbits in semi arid region of North Gujarat. Total 24 weaned rabbits (28 days age) were randomly divided in two housing treatments, T1 (Cage housing) and T2 (Deep litter housing system). The duration of experiment was 8 weeks. Dimensions of cage were 3×2×2 feet (3 rabbits/cage) whereas, in deep litter, 12 rabbits were kept in 24 square feet area (2 square feet/rabbit).

The present study describes acute Aspergillosis in a five years old female African grey parrot kept in captivity in Meo Aviary, Meerut. The birds in the aviary were housed in uplifted cage system and vaccinated against endemic diseases. The affected bird exhibited the symptoms of depression, anorexia, dyspnea and open beak breathing and died within 48 hours of showing clinical signs. At necropsy, whitish nodules were observed on the trachea, lungs and air sacs. The affected organs were collected for cultural isolation of the possible organism. Aviary visit indicated dusty environment.

Poultry manure is produced during the normal operation of hatcheries, broiler production and egg laying production. It also occurs in turkey and waterfowl production. Since a majority of poultry manure is produced in broiler and layer operations, special attention will be paid to these two specific parts of the poultry industry. There is a basic difference in the set-up of layer and broiler operations which leads to a difference in the type of litter produced. Caged systems are used mostly for laying operations but their use is growing in the broiler industry as well.
