In the present work, Nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO NPs) were synthesized using leaves extract of C. gigantea through a solution combustion method. The NiO NPs were characterized through analytical techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR).

Calotropis a medicinal plant of family Asclepiadaceae has been utilized in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and many other traditional systems to cure diseases. There are two common species of Calotropis viz. Calotropis gigantean (Linn.) R.Br. and Calotropis procera (Ait.) R.Br. Calotropis gigantea called Swetarka and Calotropis procera called Raktarka. Secondary metabolites of Calotropis have well known pharmaceutical and therapeutic applications. Chemical constituents of plants such as alkoloids, steroid, terpenoids, resin, glycosides, carbohydrates, etc are reported in Ayurvedic literature.

The study was to investigate the antibacterial activity of some medicinal plants against Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) causing pathogens. Bacteria isolated from the UTI infected patients were characterized by microscopic, staining and morphological and biochemical evaluations. Crude extracts of the selected medicinal plants prepared were checking their antibacterial activity against the bacteria isolated from UTI infected patients. The zone of inhibitions was compared with the zone of inhibition of standard antibiotics.

Medicinal plants are abundant in Myanmar. Most of people use the traditional medicinal plants for the treatment of diseases. The study of Traditional Medicinal plants and their therapeutics play a very important role in health care system of Myanmar because 70 % of its population is in the rural area and they have been using traditional medicine for centuries. Myanmar traditional practitioners use a variety of medicine mostly containing potent medicinal plants available in Myanmar, to cure various diseases depending on their own nature and localities. In the current investigation, the anti-biofilm potential of Argemone mexicana and Calotropis gigantea against 11 clinical isolates viz Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococcus, Enterobacter aerogenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus vulgaris, Proteus mirabilis, Citrobacter, Serratia marcescens and Staphylococcus epidermidis were tested. The phytochemicals extracted in different solvents were analysed for their antibiofilm ability.

In vitro study was conducted to study the effect of botanicals against hatching of Meloidogyne incognita egg masses. The aqueous extract of neem (Azadirachta indica) had the highest level of inhibition on hatching of nematode eggs (60.50 and 71.5% after 72 hr and 120 hr respectively). Significant increase in egg hatching inhibition as compared to neem was also observed at 120 hr interval (66.5 and 54.25 %) with Thulasi (Ocimum sanctum) and Calotropis (Calotropis gigantea) respectively. In control 100 % of egg hatching was found upto 48hrs.
