Canine transmissible venereal tumor

Transmissible venereal tumors (TVT) are a wide range of canine tumors for which there are no effective markers to monitor the therapeutic response in real-time. Circulating biomarkers can be valuable in early cancer diagnosis and prognosis.

The methods used to treat TVT are cryosurgery, radiotherapy, surgical resection and antineoplastic chemotherapy that is the protocol of choice in routine clinical treatment. Antineoplastic treatment may combine two or more chemotherapeutic agents (for example, vincristine and cyclophosphamide combined with methotrexate), or it can involve a single agent as vincristine (in which case is most effective or doxorubicin).

A total of 105 cases of canine from both the sexes in the period in the period of one year were suspected for transmissible venereal tumor in Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex. Nagpur. From total 105 dogs 62 male and 43 females. Male and female has complaint of prepucial and vaginal bleeding respectively.

The present study was carried out in TVCC, Hisar on twenty-four dogs affected with venereal granuloma. Affected dogs were divided equally into three groups viz. vincristine therapy (Group I) with 7 day cycle and doxorubicin therapy consisting two groups i.e. Group II with 14 day cycle and group III with 21 day cycle. Blood sample collection was done at weekly interval and before administration of drug i.e. Day 0, 7, 14 in Group I, Day 0, 7, 14, 21, 28 in Group II and Day 0, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42 in Group III. Biochemical parameters viz.
