Air pollution is one of the most concerns problems currently. The air quality of urban areas depends directly and indirectly on urban vegetation because trees are identified to have ability to remove air pollutants. In this study, I-tree Eco model was used to quantify the removal ability of air pollutants from trees at selected universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Carbon sequestration is basically the progression of transforming carbon in the air (carbon dioxide or CO2) stored in the soil carbon. Carbon dioxide is taken up with plants through the process of photosynthesis and built-in into living plant material. Agroforestry provides a sole opportunity to combine the double objectives of climate change adaptation and mitigation. It is an attractive alternative for sequestering carbon on agroforestry lands since it can sequester chief amounts of carbon still as leaving the bulk of the land in the production.

On studying the above lacuna, the study was initiated to study the carbon sequestration potential of the trees, shrubs and herbs in the native vegetation. This could provide new information to improve the accuracy in the estimation of carbon content for assessing the contribution of species towards the increasing ecosystem service of carbon fixation and storage.

International efforts to mitigate human-caused changes in the Earth‟s climate are considering a system of incentives that would encourage specific changes in land use that can help to reduce the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide. The two primary landbased activities that would help to minimize atmospheric carbon dioxide are carbon storage in the terrestrial biosphere and the efficient substitution of biomass fuels and biobased products for fossil fuels and energy-intensive products.

Investigating microbial metabolic characteristics and soil organic carbon (SOC) within aggregates and their relationships under conservation tillage may be useful in revealing the mechanism of SOC sequestration in conservation tillage systems. Crop residue retention has been considered a practicable strategy to improve soil organic carbon (SOC) but the effectiveness of residue retention might be different under varied tillage practices.

Soil organic carbon (SOC) dynamics in croplands is a crucial component of global carbon (C) cycle. Depending on local environmental conditions and management practices, typical C input is generally required to reduce or reverse C loss in agricultural soils. Changes in the soil organic carbon (SOC) stock are determined by the balance between the carbon input from organic materials and the output from the decomposition of soil C. The fate of SOC in cropland soils plays a significant role in both sustainable agricultural production and climate change mitigation.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) storage and sequestration in unconventional shale resources has been attracting interest since last couple of years due to the very unique characteristics of such formations have made them a feasible option for this object. Shale formations are found all around the world and the conventional assets are easily accessible , and also the huge move of operators toward developing unconventional reservoirs during past years leave s many of such formations ready for sequestering CO2.

Since its inception in 1997, DOE’s Carbon Sequestration Program – managed within FE and implemented by NETL – has been developing both core and supporting technologies through which CCS can become an effective and economically viable option for reducing CO2 emissions from coal-based power plants (NETL, 2007a).

Finally, specific maps for an ecosystem or beneficiary group of interest can also be generated. Such maps can show either 1) the parts of the landscape from which a given beneficiary’s benefits are derived, or 2) the beneficiary groups receiving benefits from a particular ecosystem region of interest (Johnson et al. unpublished). We have to date mapped only the spatial dynamics of carbon sequestration and storage, aesthetic views and aesthetic proximity.
