In this work, a functional nanocomposite consisting of silver nanoparticles and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-Ag) was successfully synthesized using a two-step chemical process. The MWCNTsAg nanocomposite has been studied as a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensing platform for detection of methylene blue (MB) dye in an aqueous medium.

The Payas region bauxite deposits occur as a sandwiched layer that is a few kilometers long and an average of 10 m thick between the lower and upper Cretaceous carbonates of the Arabian Platform. The bauxites occur as 2 types, comprising blanket and pocket, are chemically and texturally homogeneous, and have a thrust structure with ophiolitic mélange formations. The bauxite varies in color, from reddish-brown to grayish-green to black, and has a massive, patchy, and very rare oolitic-pisolitic texture.

Platform carbonates bearing shallow water foraminifera and dasycladale assemblages with an Albian stratigraphic significance, crop out at two localities on the Karaburun Peninsula: Barbaros and Zeytineli. Rudist faunas collected from these localities include Toucasia seunesi Douvillé, Pseudotoucasia catalaunica Astre, Mathesia darderi (Astre), Petalodontia ? sp., and Eoradiolites sp. aff. murgensis.

As the rudist bivalves represent important organic buildups in the Cretaceous platform sequences, this study emphasizes vertical and spatial distribution of this group of bivalves in the geographic divisions of Egypt, including Western Desert, Eastern Desert and Sinai. Rudists are encountered in different rock facies ranging from mudstones to carbonates. About sixty eight species belong to twenty one genera are reported from Egypt.

The current model for this orocline involves a 25−30° counterclockwise (CCW) rotation of the Bey Dağları region, which exposes upper Cretaceous to Eocene platform carbonates and lower Miocene flysch deposits. In this model the rotation has to postdate a Miocene remagnetization, which would not exclude non-synchroneity between rotations of the western and eastern limbs of the Aegean orocline.

The nummulitic limestones of Crimea and the southwestern Caucasus, often interpreted as “nummulite banks”, formed carbonate platforms throughout most of the Ypresian–Lutetian. A very significant quantity of dolomites and dolomitic limestones of variable origins occurs in the syn-rift Neogene carbonate platforms of the NW Red Sea coast and the Gulf of Suez. These are more common in the Um Diheisi Member of the Ranga Formation (early Miocene), the Um Mahara Formation (middle Miocene), the Um Gheig Formation (late Miocene), and the Dashet El Dabaa Member of the Shagra Formation (Pliocene).

Bể trầm tích Sông Hồng là một trong những bể Kainozoi chứa khí có tiềm năng nhất trên thềm lục địa Việt Nam, với các mỏ khí mới được phát hiện như: Thái Bình, Hồng Long, Báo Vàng, Báo Đen... Hầu hết các vỉa khí có giá trị công nghiệp nằm trong đá chứa trầm tích lục nguyên tuổi Miocen hoặc Pliocen có liên quan tới các thân sét diapia. Tuy nhiên, có một số phát hiện khí mới ở khu vực phía Nam của bể (như 115A, Sư Tử Biển, Cá Heo…) lại nằm trong đá chứa Carbonate tuổi Miocen giữa.
