Pekin duck products have become popular in Asia over recent decades and account for an increasing market share. However, the genetic mechanisms affecting carcass growth in Pekin ducks remain unknown. This study aimed to identify quantitative trait loci affecting body size and carcass yields in Pekin ducks.

The biological experiment was carried out with a total of five hundred and twenty five day old straight-run Japanese quail chicks up to 5 weeks of age. At the end of five weeks post hatch growth performance study, six birds from each treatment group were drawn randomly and subjected to humane method of slaughter. The study was conducted to assess the carcass yield on post-hatch performance of Japanese quail as influenced by supplementing Omega-3 PUFA rich oil sources like fish oil and linseed oil, independently and simultaneously at 2 and 4 per cent levels.

Paratuberculosis or Johne‟s disease is a chronic debilitating disease of ruminants caused by Mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis. In dairy cows, paratuberculosis has been associated with production losses such as decreased milk yield, pre-mature culling, reduced carcass value etc. A possible mode of transmission for the ruminant pathogen Mycobacterium avium subsp. Paratuberculosis (MAP) from cattle to humans is via milk and dairy products.

An experiment on 120 day old Ross 308 broiler chicken was conducted to study effect of dietary supplementation of minerals (Se + Zn + Cr) on growth performance and carcass yield. Chicks were divided into three groups of 40 chicks in each and dietary treatments consisted of minerals (Sodium selenite, Chromium picolinate, Zinc-methionine) in three levels.

A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of phytobiotics on carcass characteristics of Nandanam broiler-3 chicken. A total of 120 day-old Nandanam broiler-3 chicks were randomly allotted into four treatments with three replicates each 10 chicks. The dietary treatments were formulated as control fed with basal diet (T1) and basal diet supplemented with 0.50 % ginger powder (T2) or garlic paste (T3) or turmeric powder (T4).

A total of 360 pig carcasses were examined through meat inspection in different market places of Dimapur and Kohima district of Nagaland, India in the month of March, 2019. Out of which, 6 (1.67%) were found positive for porcine cysticercosis with visible cysts. The serum samples were collected from 300 pigs and out of which 10 (3.00%) serum samples were found positive for Cysticercus cellulosae antibody. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay was performed to confirm Cysticercus cellulosae and to validate the results of meat inspection.

Within the 2001–7 period, the poultry industry reached its peak in 2003; meat yield was 372 700 metric tonnes and egg production was 4 852 million eggs. Poultry live weight per capita per year was 4.5 kg (equivalent to 2.94 kg carcass weight per person). The number of eggs per capita is 60 eggs, or 3.4 kg of eggs per person (Statistical Yearbook of Viet Nam, 2004), which is lower than in China (6.5 kg), Thailand (15.3 kg), Malaysia and the United States of America (49.6 kg) (author’s calculations). In December 2003, poultry industries in Viet Nam became strongly...
