Green leafy vegetables are good sources of food for they are rich in nutritional quality which plays significant physiological role in human body such as stimulating enzymes, antioxidants, reducing diseases such as diabetes, cardiac infarction, cancer and destroying bacteria including Salmonella species, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The aim of the study is to evaluate the nutritional quality and Mineral Content of Moringa oleifera Lam. leaves Consumed in Guinea Savannah Vegetation zones of Nigeria.

Carriers of plasminogen activator inhibitor -1 (PAI-1) -675 genotype 5G/5G may be associated with lower preoperative PAI-1 plasma levels and higher blood loss after heart surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). We speculate if polymorphisms of PAI-1 -844 A/G and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) intron 16 I/D also might promote fibrinolysis and increase postoperative bleeding.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is the most common cardiovascular cause of death in cats. Although the majority of cats remain asymptomatic, some may develop signs of chronic heart failure due to diastolic failure, arterial thromboembolism (ATE) or sudden cardiac death.

Pericarditis following immunization for influenza is very rarely reported in the literature. In a few cases, influenza vaccination seems likely responsible. We suggest considering recent immunization in patient’s history as part of the differential diagnosis in elderly with chest pain.

We report the clinical presentation of a 10 month-old infant who succumbed with acute myocarditis and fulminant hepatic failure associated with a virologically confirmed human influenza A, H1N1 (2009) virus infection. To date, this is the first pediatric patient presenting with this fatal combination of complications during the current H1N1 pandemic. Therefore, we recommend meticulous assessment and follow up of the cardiac status, liver enzymes and coagulation profile in all pediatric patients with severe H1N1 influenza infection.

We achieved possibility of isolation, characterization human umbilical cord blood endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), examination potency of EPCs to form new blood vessels and differentiation into cardiomyoctes in canines with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). EPCs were separated and cultured from umbilical cord blood. Their phenotypes were confirmed by uptake of double stains dioctadecyl tetramethylindocarbocyanine-labeled acetylated LDL and FITClabeled Ulex europaeus agglutinin 1 (DILDL-UEA-1). EPCs of cord blood were counted.

The association between uric acid (UA) on one side and systemic hypertension (Htn), dyslipidemia, glucose intolerance, overweight, fatty liver, renal disease and cardiovascular disease (CVD) on the other side is well recognized. However, the causal relationship between UA and these different clinical problems is still debatable. The recent years have witnessed hundreds of experimental and clinical trials that favored the opinion that UA is a probable player in the pathogenesis of these disease entities.

In the present study, we tried to investigate the effects of melatonin, a novel antioxidant and a potent free radical scavenger, in stress-induced cerebral, cerebellar, cardiac, and hepatic oxidative damage using microscopic and biochemical analysis. A total of 32 male Wistar albino rats were divided into control, stress, stress + saline, and stress + melatonin groups.

No one industry alone can provide the basis for major gains in renewable resource chemical use. Although exciting research opportunities exist in areas such as biopolymers, stereospecific molecules, new enzymes, novel materials, and transgenic design, progress in isolated technical areas will not be sufficient. We must take a broad view of future consumer needs and emphasize inter- related research projects conducted in a parallel and coordinated manner.

Angina is the characteristic pain of IHD. It is caused by atherosclerosis leading to stenosis (partial occlusion) of one or more coronary arteries. Patients with chronic stable angina have an average annual mortality of 2 percent or less. Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is the total occlusion of a major coronary artery with a complete lack of oxygen and nutrients leading to cardiac muscle necrosis. AMI is usually diagnosed by changes in the electrocardiogram; by elevated serum enzymes, such as creatine phosphokinase and troponin T or I; and by pain similar to that of angina.

It has been considered that vitamin E is the major membrane bound antioxidant employed in humans, and thus this lipophilic chain breaking antioxidant has the ability to inhibit lipid peroxidation. Synergistic actions between vitamin C and vitamin E therefore appear important in their preventive activity against lipid peroxidation. Human trials and in-vitro studies have shown that oxidative stress causes a rapid depletion of vitamin C and vitamin E (reviewed by Bouayed & Bohn, 2010).
