For patients with heart failure combined with complete left bundle branch block, cardiac resynchro‑ nization therapy is an important therapeutic method. If these patients also have atrial tachycardia, how to choose a treatment strategy deserves discussion.

Persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) is the most common variant of systemic venous drainage. In the absence of the right superior vena cava (RSVC), implantation of a right ventricular pacing lead may be challenging. Therefore specific implantation techniques and experiences in PLSVC are worth reporting.

As the global population ages, cardiac pacing procedures are rising exponentially to keep pace with the increasing incidence of bradyarrhythmias. The efficacy of pacemakers is well established, but recipients may have poor psychosocial adaptation leading to development or exacerbation of mental disorders, that may manifest with anxiety, depressive symptoms or rarely suicidal tendencies.

Experiment data on isolated rat hearts shows that the transient behaviors after switching pacing intervals are very complicated with increasing, decreasing, and rebound of the contraction force. The strength of contraction in the heart muscle is strongly related to intracellular free Ca2+ mediated by an action potential. This behavior can be explained by calcium cycling inside the excitable cardiac myocytes coupled with their action potential.

The objective of this study was to assess diagnostic accuracy of the ECG localization of culprit vessel occlusion site and compare it with coronary angiographic findings. This study analyzed 180 cases that came with acute myocardial infarction to cardiology department of Tanta University Hospital in a period from the first of May 2016 up to the end of May 2018.

The business man, especially the business man of wide and authoritative discretion, has become a controlling force in industry, because, through the mechanism of investments and markets, he controls the plants and processes, and these set the pace and determine the direction of movement for the rest. His control in those portions of the field that are not immediately under his hand is, no doubt, somewhat loose and uncertain; but in the long run his discretion is in great measure decisive even for these outlying portions of the field, for he is the only large self−directing economic factor.

Given the rapid pace of research findings and clinical refinement related to cancer prevention and treatment, the content of the NCI Thésaurus evolves rapidly. To keep the information as up to date as possible, a new release is made every month. With nearly a dozen full time subject matter experts working on different parts of the terminology, a well-structured and complex process is used to ensure accuracy and coherence. NCI uses the Apelon, ...

Industries with identified critical infrastructures should have full and complete participation in the development of cybersecurity standards and best practices. Any standards should be performance-based rather than technology-based to ensure that they are not out-paced by the advancement of technology. Owners and operators know best how to protect their own systems, and it is nearly impossible for the speed of bureaucracy to keep pace with ever changing threats.

Besides having the best EHR for their practice, it is also Greenway’s belief that physicians need fiscally responsible incentives to increase adoption of HIT at a greater pace. Physicians and their practices are the backbone of the American healthcare system and since they are also small businesses, they are the backbone of our economy as well.

This includes being at risk for all medical and long term care costs. A health center taking on this program must be comfortable assuming significant financial risk as well as be able to assume the significant regulatory requirements for PACE that parallel much larger Medicare Advantage health plans. Despite the risk, PACE is one of the few accepted models for fully integrating health and long term care services for disabled elders and is a very significant resource for communities that have the programs. PACE began as a Medicare waiver program but is now a full Medicare benefit.

It has been almost five years since our last edition was published. Much has happened in the world of cardiology and especially device therapy since then. A major advance has been the development of cardiac resynchronization therapy as heralded by the development of biventricular pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). Cardiac resynchronization therapy represents an important new device therapy for patients with congestive heart failure.
