Recently, propolis has shown potential cardioprotective effects against myocardial infarction. However, challenges in its clinical application have arisen, primarily due to concerns regarding dosage and potential adverse effects. To address this, we suggest integrating propolis into polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/gelatin hydrogel to regulate the localized release of propolis at infarcted sites.

Metformin is commonly used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Its multiple advantages include low risk of hypoglycemia, weight neutrality, low cost, and cardioprotective and anti-inflammatory effects. Renal insufficiency is one of the contraindications for its use.

In this paper, flavonoid (-)-epicatechin extracted from green tea was investigated for the cardiotoxic effects, through H2O2-induced oxidative stress modeling, while cardioprotective properties were demonstrated by MTT and lactate dehydrogenase assays on rat differentiated H9c2 cardio myoblasts with various time prolonged.

To evaluate the cardioprotective effects of sevoflurane versus propofol anesthesia in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Methods: Studies were retrieved through searching several databases. Study quality was evaluated by Jadad scale. Meta-analysis was performed with RevMan5.0 software. Publication bias was tested by funnel plot.

The cardioprotective effect of remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) in cardiovascular surgery is controversial. This study investigated whether RIPC combined with remote ischemic postconditioning (RIPostC) reduces myocardial injury to donor hearts in patients undergoing heart transplantation.

It is skeptical about cardioprotective property of sevoflurane in patients undergoing noncardiac surgery, especially in the elderly patients with coronary heart disease. We hypothesized that long duration of sevoflurane inhalation in noncardiac surgery could ameliorate myocardial damage in such patients.

CVD is a major public health problem. High blood pressure and circulating LDL levels are major risk factors for promoting atherosclerosis, ischemic heart disease or stroke. PUFA act as substrates for eicosanoid formation. Eicosanoids formed from omega 3 are anti- inflammatory in nature and possess cardioprotective effects through various mechanisms with DHA being most potent followed by EPA and ALA in preventing cardiovascular disease. But conversion of ALA to EPA and DHA is less efficient.

Increased cardiomyocyte apoptosis under high glucose condition contributes to diabetic cardiomyopathy. Degradation of cardiac Connexin43 (Cx43) has been associated with cardiac dysfunction in diabetic heart. Clinical and experimental studies suggested that metformin (Met) exhibits cardioprotective properties against diabetes.

Hyperthyroidism increases the vulnerability of the heart to ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. Regarding the fact that diazepam also affects cardiac I/R injury, the current study was conducted to investigate the effect of diazepam on ischemia-reperfused isolated hyperthyroid rat heart.

None of the newer evidence altered the priority given to metformin cited in the previous guideline. Although the specific cardioprotective effects of metformin suggested by the UKPDS study were open to challenge from some of the very recent studies, this was not on the basis of strong outcome data. Large observational studies from Canada and Scotland111,112 appeared to support the widespread advantage of metformin over sulfonylureas, but the A Diabetes Outcome Progression Trial (ADOPT) study did not.
