  • If you want to create web sites, there are hundreds of books and web pages that claim to show you how. Some of them are very good indeed. But this book isn’t like all those other books and web pages, for a number of important reasons: The Web Book is an electronic book, or ebook. You simply download it as a PDF file from www.the-web-book.com and print it yourself. Or read it on-screen. The Web Book covers all of the technologies that you need to know in order to create Web sites, both using static HTML pages and database-driven sites.

  • This paper presents a new pulse width modulator control method using the offset function to reduce switching loss in five-level Cascade inverter. The proposed technique is based on the offset function being 3rd harmonic voltage. The offset voltage will be added to the control voltages so that the voltage of phase which has absolute of load current largest move into top or bottom of the carriers.

  • This paper presents a new multilevel topology based on cascaded hybrid multi-level (HCS) inverter. There are different topologies for cascaded inverters for reducing the switches, power loss. The output voltage is increased and the number of switches is reduced with the HCS inverter. Due to this reduction in number of on-state switches, power loss and voltage drop is reduced. Simulation results for 11 level symmetric form of converter is described.

  • The contribution of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascades to plant growth and development has been widely studied, but this knowledge has not yet been extended to the medicinal plant Salvia miltiorrhiza, which produces a number of pharmacologically active secondary metabolites.

  • The challenges lie in being able to reliably and rapidly detect multiple small objects of interest against a cluttered background which usually consists of trees and buildings, and then classify them as the light vehicle or heavy vehicle based on their pixels length. To this end, we present a concept of traffic monitoring system. The proposed approach can disclose and classify vehicles using the uncelebrated video images. This prototype system is capable to use the uncelebrated surveillance cameras for real-time traffic data collection.

  • Detection of central nodes in asymmetrically directed biological networks depends on centrality metrics quantifying individual nodes’ importance in a network. In topological analyses on metabolic networks, various centrality metrics have been mostly applied to metabolite-centric graphs.

  • NS4A is a non-structural multi-tasking small peptide that is essential for HCV maturation and replication. The central odd-numbered hydrophobic residues of NS4A (Val-23‘ to Leu-31‘)i are essential for activating NS3 upon NS3/4A protease complex formation. This study aims to design new specific allosteric NS3/4A protease inhibitors by mutating Val-23‘, Ile-25‘, and Ile-29‘ into bulkier amino acids. Pep-15, a synthetic peptide, showed higher binding affinity towards HCV-NS3 subtype-4 than native NS4A. The Kd of Pep-15 (80.0 ± 8.0 nM) was twice as high as that of native NS4A (169 ± 37 nM).

  • The Fertilization-related kinases (FRK) form a class that belongs to the MEKK subfamily of plant MAPKKKs. It was recently shown that FRK class kinases expanded during angiosperm evolution, reaching their maximum numbers in the lineage leading to solanaceous species and culminating in the Solanum genus where they account for more than 40% of the total MEKKs.

  • Given the self nature of cancer, anti-tumor immune response is weak. As such, acute inflammation induced by microbial products can induce signals that result in initiation of an inflammatory cascade that helps activation of immune cells. We aimed to compare the nature and magnitude of acute inflammation induced by toll-like receptor ligands (TLRLs) on the tumor growth and the associated inflammatory immune responses. To induce acute inflammation in tumor-bearing host, CD1 mice were inoculated with intraperitoneal (i.p.

  • Recently Viet Nam National Foreign Language 2020 Project was launched as a government initiative to improve the foreign language learning and teaching system nationally. One task of the project is to introduce English at grade 3, which requires significant re-training for the country’s large number of primary English teachers in both English proficiency and methodology. Training-of-trainers (ToT), a cascade model of trainer training, has therefore been adopted as an option.

  • Erythropoietin (Epo) is a hematopoietic cytokine that is crucial for the differentiation and proliferation of erythroid progenitor cells. Epo acts on its target cells by inducing homodimerization of the erythropoietin receptor (EpoR), thereby triggering intracellular signaling cascades. The EpoR encompasses eight tyrosine motifs on its cytoplasmic tail that have been shown to recruit a number of regulatory proteins.

  • With joint and several guarantees, each guaranteeing Member State would be liable not only for its own share of Stability Bond issuance but also for the share of any other Member State failing to honour its obligations 13 . Even under this guarantee structure, it cannot be completely excluded that the rating of the Stability Bonds could be affected if a limited number of AAA-rated Member States would be required to guarantee very large liabilities of other lower-rated Member States.

  • Volume 3 of the book series Biomathematical and Biomechanical Modeling of the Circulatory and Ventilatory Systems aims at presenting major sets of signaling receptors mainly located at the plasma membrane, 1 in a modeling framework rather than biological perspective. Collecting signaling effectors, their main interactions, and major properties are the first tasks required for any modeling of cell signaling processes. The major objective is to comprehend the complexity of natural phenomena to model these events. In other words, to yield the maximal amount of known information (i.e.

  • As a baby, one of our earliest stimuli is that of human faces. We rapidly learn to identify, characterize and eventually distinguish those who are near and dear to us. We accept face recognition later as an everyday ability. We realize the complexity of the underlying problem only when we attempt to duplicate this skill in a computer vision system. This book is arranged around a number of clustered themes covering different aspects of face recognition.

  • The Adipocyte and Adipose Tissue Adipose tissue is composed of the lipid-storing adipose cell and a stromal/vascular compartment in which cells including preadipocytes and macrophages reside. Adipose mass increases by enlargement of adipose cells through lipid deposition, as well as by an increase in the number of adipocytes. Obese adipose tissue is also characterized by increased numbers of infiltrating macrophages.
