Ebook "C-H bond activation and catalytic functionalization I (Topics in organometallic chemistry, Volume 55)" gathers innovative contributions for a wide range of catalytic C–H bond functionalisations. They involve a variety of metal catalysts from Pd, Rh, Ir and Ru complexes to Fe, Ni, Cu and Ag derivatives, including surface organometallics, and they point out the importance of ancillary or transient ligands forcing the metal site to activate C–H bonds by several complementary processes.

Ebook "Characterization and design of zeolite catalysts: Solid acidity, shape selectivity and loading properties" provide us the strong acidity with the fine distribution which enables various useful catalytic reactions. When some metals and cations are loaded in close to the acid sites, these loaded elements show extraordinary characters, and many catalytic reactions proceed thereon. Microporosity provides us a unique property of the shape selectivity, and the excellent selectivity is observed.

Monoclinic argentite Ag2S-based AgCoOS oxysulfide catalyst with high catalytic reduction performance in the dark with NaBH4 was prepared via a facial method. The co-doping of transition metal cations and anions was employed to effectively adjust the electron transfer property of the catalyst, with O used to modify the energy band structure and Co to provide extra active sites for the electrophilic and nucleophile reactions.

In this study, ternary mixed oxide catalysts containing Al2O3-MoO3-MgO and Al2O3-MoO3-WO3 were prepared with a changing ratio of MoO3:Al2O3 between 0.05 and 20.00. All catalysts showed 100% selectivity towards propene during the conversion of propan-2-ol at temperatures between 220 and 400 °C. The catalysts prepared from WO3 possessed very strong acid sites, which cause higher catalytic activity than catalysts prepared from MgO.

This polymeric ligand was reacted with PdCl 2 to obtain a polymeric Pd(0) complex. The TEM image of the Pd catalyst showed good dispersion of catalytic sites. The Pd catalyst exhibits excellent activity and stability in copper-free Sonogashira–Hagihara cross-coupling reactions under aerobic conditions. This protocol can be applied efficiently to the coupling reactions of chloro- as well as iodo- and bromo-arenes. The catalyst can be reused several times without any considerable decrease in its activity.

NH3 adsorption and desorption behavior of a commercial Cu-chabazite (CHA) NH3 selective catalytic reduction (NH3 -SCR) catalyst was studied in the presence and absence of H2O. NH3 uptake values at various adsorption temperatures were obtained during various steps of the adsorption and temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) experiments. Total NH3 uptake decreased from 4.6 to 1.6 g NH3/L catalyst when the adsorption temperature was increased from 50 to 300◦C.

A series of alkylorganotin-based catalysts (Sn-g-C3N4/AC) was prepared by wet impregnation in ethanol using different g-C3N4 precursors and alkylorganotin compounds. The structure, texture, surface composition, and adsorption properties of the as-prepared catalysts were extensively characterized. Then, the obtained samples were evaluated for their catalytic performance in hydrochlorination of acetylene. The results provided by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, acetylene temperature-programmed desorption, and HCl adsorption confirmed the nature of the active sites (i.e.

The physical and chemical properties of bimetallic nanoparticles can be optimized by tuning the particle composition. In this study, we identified CO adsorption and dissociation energetics on five Pt-Mo nanoparticles at different concentrations, the lowest energy Pt7, Pt6Mo, Pt5Mo2, Pt4Mo3, and Mo7 clusters. We have shown that the CO adsorption and dissociation energies and preferred CO adsorption sites are largely dependent on the composition of the nanoparticles.

Molybdenum (Mo) is an essential micronutrient for almost all biological systems, which holds key positions in several enzymes involved in carbon, nitrogen and sulfur metabolism. In general, this transition metal needs to be coordinated to a unique pterin, thus forming a prosthetic group named molybdenum cofactor (Moco) at the catalytic sites of molybdoenzymes.

A large panel of methods exists that aim to identify residues with critical impact on protein function based on evolutionary signals, sequence and structure information. However, it is not clear to what extent these different methods overlap, and if any of the methods have higher predictive potential compared to others when it comes to, in particular, the identification of catalytic residues (CR) in proteins.

The central element of each enzyme is the catalytic site, which commonly catalyzes a single biochemical reaction with high specificity. It was unclear to us how often sites that catalyze the same or highly similar reactions evolved on different, i. e. non-homologous protein folds and how similar their 3D poses are.
