Catalyze oxidative degradation
-
In this paper, we discuss the efficiency of using a Fe2V4O13 catalyst in a heterogeneous Fenton-like process for the degradation and mineralization of Ind. We examined various factors that influence the reaction, such as the initial pH of the reaction mixture, the initial concentration of hydrogen peroxide, the amount of the Fe2V4O13 catalyst, and the reaction temperature was investigated.

Feruloyl esterase catalyze the hydrolysis of a wide variety of glycosidic linkages between two or more carbohydrates or between a carbohydrate and a non-carbohydrate moiety. Thereby, they play a role in the initial degradation of lignocelluloses, which may be advantageous for the efficient degradation of the plant cell-wall complex that contains both diverse sugar residues and esterified structures.

While significance differences were observed between the catalytic activities of the title complexes in the oxidation of alkanes, the 2 manganese porphyrins showed comparable activities in oxidation of most of the olefins used. However, the latter showed greater catalytic performance in the oxidation of the hydrocarbons. Moreover, the oxidative degradation of the former (60%) was greater than that of the latter (45%) in the oxidation of cyclooctene.

Excessive amounts of reactive oxygen species (ROS), unless counterbalanced by antioxidants, can cause cellular damage under oxidative stress conditions; therefore, antioxidative defenses against ROS must be measured. With the development of nanotechnology, nanoparticles have found numerous applications in science, health, and industries. Magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4 :MNPs) have attracted attention because of their peroxidase-like activity.

Polysaccharide monooxygenases (PMOs) catalyze oxidative degradation of recalcitrant carbohydrate chains in cellulose, starch, and chitin. In biofuel industry, the conversion of rich lignocellulose source to fermentable sugars by hydrolytic cellulases can be synergistically boosted by cellulose-active PMOs (AA9 PMOs) found in a vast number of fungi that grow on biomass.

Uric acid increased accumulation and/or reduced excretion in human bodies is closely related to pathogenesis of gout and hyperuricemia. It is highly affected by the high intake of food rich in purine. Uric acid is present in both higher plants and microorganisms with species dependent concentration. Uratedegrading enzymes are found both in plants and microorganisms but the mechanisms by which plant degrade uric acid was found to be different among them.

Heme oxygenase (HO) catalyzes the oxidative degradation of heme utilizing molecular oxygen and reducing equiva-lents. In photosynthetic organisms, HO functions in the biosynthesis of such open-chain tetrapyrroles as phyto-chromobilin and phycobilins, which are involved in the sig-nal transduction for light responses and light harvesting for photosynthesis, respectively.

Poly(A)-specific ribonuclease (PARN) specifically catalyzes the degradation of the poly(A) tails of single-stranded mRNAs in a highly processive mode. PARN participates in diverse and important intracellular processes by act-ing as a regulator of mRNA stability and translational efficiency. In this article, the equilibrium unfolding of PARN was studied using both guani-dine hydrochloride and urea as chemical denaturants.
