Categories of farmers

The study was conducted in two district namely Balodabazar and Kanker of Chhattisgarh state, because FLD (Front Line Demonstration) of kadaknath poultry farming was conducted in both districts. Most of the stakeholders of kadaknath poultry farming were in the young age group category who are graduates and above with 1-2 years of experience in kadaknath poultry farming.

The research study was conducted in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan and Dhanbaad districts of Jharkhand state with sample size of 60 respondents. Study revealed that 40.00 per cent of respondents of KVK Chittorgarh belonged to medium knowledge level category with respect to vegetable cultivation practices, whereas 46.67 per cent of respondents of KVK Dhanbaad were belonged to low knowledge level category.

Consumption of milk and milk products is expected to differ for different occupational groups due to differences in the habits and social customs. Average monthly per capita expenditure (MPCE) of Uttar Pradesh is about rupees 899 and rupees 1574 out of which per capita expenditure on food in rural and urban areas of Uttar Pradesh is about rupees 521 and rupees 728, respectively; and percentage share of food in consumer expenditure is about 57.9 percent and 46.3 percent, respectively NSSO, GOI, 2009-10.

The present study was conducted in Adilabad district of Telangana to study the profile and employment generation of tribal farmers. Total 120 respondents were randomly selected for the study and interviewed. Most of the (47.50 %) respondents belonged to medium category followed by low (30.80%) and high (21.70%) employment generation.

The seed spices constitute an important group of agricultural commodities, playing an important role in our national economy. During 2012-13 share of seed spices in India‟s spice area and production is 7.02% and 11.82% respectively. This study was conducted during the year 2016-17. A total of 28 farmers from different categories were selected purposively from Pana (Bayana) villages of Bharatpur district of Rajasthan for conducting Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) on their field on fennel crop.

Cashew nut attracts the people of all categories and all over the world. Probable reasons for that it’s pleasant taste and nutritive values. The farmers perspective cashew nut was cash crop even though dry areas. The present study aims to access the growth and performance of cashew nut production in India from 1965-66 to 2014-15. For this study statistics tools like descriptive statistics and percentage analysis use for interpret data. The results indicate that increasing trend in production of cashew nut in India.

The study concludes that more than fifty percent (62.50%) respondents had medium level of knowledge while only 19.17% falls in the category of high level of knowledge about recommended Brinjal production of technology. This may be due lack of exposure towards agricultural messages from interpersonal and mass media channels.

The study was found that the majority of demonstrating farmers did have the high adoption towards Rabi QPM production technology as compared to the non-demonstrating farmers. The differences in adoption of both the categories of farmers were also found to be significant.

In the study area, adoption of hybrid rice was started in 2005 and maximum adoption was in 2012. Majority (80%) of the farmers growhybrid-6444 variety of hybrid rice in their first year, with an average yield of 61.37 q/ha. There are many comparative benefits of hybrid rice reported by the farmers but along with it many constraints were also faced by the farmers in its cultivation. The time variable allows us to classify the respondents into adopter categories. Both curves of the adoption of hybrid rice over time by the farmers and s-shaped curve on cumulative basis were plotted.

The study indicated that 46.67 per cent of the farmers belonged to old age group of above 45 years and were illiterate (36.70 %). Majority (51.70 %) of them had dairying and agriculture as their primary occupation and had more than 10 years of farming experience. Majority of the farmers had medium categories of cosmopoliteness and livestock possession (85.00 % and 68.33 %) respectively. The major constraints faced by the respondents were lack of awareness about latest technologies, scarcity of grazing land and water in dairy farming and lack of veterinary extension services at field level.

The present study was conducted to assess the social demographic profile, distribution and information needs of farmers visiting the Livestock Fair (Pashu Palan Mela) held at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana in September, 2019 via structured interview schedule. The study revealed that 34% of respondents who attended the livestock fair belonged to upto 25 years age group category, with the education level of 64% farmers upto matriculation or higher secondary.

The Jammu and Kashmir has a varied type of climate from sub-tropical to cold arid. The main crops grown in the state are rice, maize, wheat, pulses, oil seeds, saffron etc. The cultivation of Saffron is mostly confined to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. In Kashmir saffron cultivation is peculiar and the legend about its introduction in to Kashmir shows that it is an ancient industry about 2200 years’ old. It is the legendry crop of the welldrained plateau of Pampore. The present study is an attempt to analyse the cost, return and marketing of Saffron in Jammu and Kashmir.

The present study was conducted in Adilabad district of Telangana to study the profile and employment generation of tribal farmers. Total 120 respondents were randomly selected for the study and interviewed. Most of the (44.10 %) respondents belonged to medium category followed by low (39.20%) and high (16.70%) income generation. The results of the investigation it was found that farm size, training received, credit orientation, achievement motivation, social support, extension contact and mass media exposure had a positive and significant correlation with the income generation.

The study was taken up with the main objective of identifying and analyzing the adoption of package of practices by the Chilli farmers as recommended by the scientists of ANGRAU. It was conducted in 2013 with a sample of Sixty (60) tenant farmers in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. Cent per cent of the respondents fell in the category of fully adopted with respect to time of harvest. 86.67 per cent of the respondents fully adopted recommended doses of fertilizers; while the remaining 13.33 per cent fell in the category of partially adopted. 81.

India has been predominantly agrarian economy since time immemorial. Development efforts over the last four decades have doubtless strengthened our industrial base. The banana in the state has been reportedly being cultivated under traditional manner. By and large, the farmers are cultivating only the traditional varieties of banana. Perishability is one of the important constraints in banana production and marketing. Processing opportunities are absent to a great extent.
