Polydentate, unsymmetrical, and multi metal ion sensing Schiff bases comprised of ferrocenecarboxaldehyde attached azomethine group at one side and aromatic aldehyde linked imine on the other side have been synthesized. Cumulative addition of different metal salts solution to receptors solution, changes the electronic spectra contrarily and for the addition of Cu2+ ions, generation of MLCT charge transfer band responsible for the coordination of metal ion with a receptor is observed.

Two new azo-Schiff base receptors (L1 and L2) containing azo and azomethine groups with a conjugated group (benzyl ring of anthranilic acid, in L1) and electron-donating group (alkyl chain of hexanoic acid, in L2) were synthesized and characterized. Azo-hydrazone/phenol-keto tautomerism and solvatochromism were investigated. Studying their sensing ability towards cations (Co2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Mn2+, Fe3+, Cr3+, and Al3+), high sensitivity and selectivity were recorded for Fe3+ by naked eye and UV-Vis spectra in DMF-aqueous HEPES buffer (v:v, 1:1, pH 6.8).

Roberto Navigli Dipartimento di Informatica Sapienza - Universit` di Roma a Via Salaria, 113 - 00198 Roma Italy navigli@di.uniroma1.it Abstract We present a novel graph-based algorithm for the automated disambiguation of glosses in lexical knowledge resources. A dictionary graph is built starting from senses (vertices) and explicit or implicit relations in the dictionary (edges). The approach is based on the identification of edge sequences which constitute cycles in the dictionary graph (possibly with one edge reversed) and relate a source to a target word sense.

In this paper, we present a novel approach to integrate speech recognition and rulebased machine translation by lattice parsing. The presented approach is hybrid in two senses. First, it combines structural and statistical methods for language modeling task. Second, it employs a chart parser which utilizes manually created syntax rules in addition to scores obtained after statistical processing during speech recognition. The employed chart parser is a unification-based active chart parser. It can parse word graphs by using a mixed strategy instead of being bottom-up or top-down only.

InSaccharomyces cerevisiae, toxic concentrations of Na + or Li + ions induce the expression of the cation-extrusion ATPase gene,ENA1. Several well-studied signal transduc-tion pathways are known correlating high salinity to the transcriptional activation ofENA1. Nevertheless, informa-tion on the actual sensing mechanism initiating these path-ways is limited.

Báo cáo khoa học: "Learning Word Senses With Feature Selection and Order Identification Capabilities"
This paper presents an unsupervised word sense learning algorithm, which induces senses of target word by grouping its occurrences into a “natural” number of clusters based on the similarity of their contexts. For removing noisy words in feature set, feature selection is conducted by optimizing a cluster validation criterion subject to some constraint in an unsupervised manner. Gaussian mixture model and Minimum Description Length criterion are used to estimate cluster structure and cluster number. ...

This paper presents an innovative, complex approach to semantic verb classification that relies on selectional preferences as verb properties. The probabilistic verb class model underlying the semantic classes is trained by a combination of the EM algorithm and the MDL principle, providing soft clusters with two dimensions (verb senses and subcategorisation frames with selectional preferences) as a result. A language-model-based evaluation shows that after 10 training iterations the verb class model results are above the baseline results. ...

This paper focuses on domain-specific senses and presents a method for assigning category/domain label to each sense of words in a dictionary. The method first identifies each sense of a word in the dictionary to its corresponding category. We used a text classification technique to select appropriate senses for each domain. Then, senses were scored by computing the rank scores. We used Markov Random Walk (MRW) model. The method was tested on English and Japanese resources, WordNet 3.0 and EDR Japanese dictionary. ...

Word Sense Disambiguation remains one of the most complex problems facing computational linguists to date. In this paper we present a system that combines evidence from a monolingual WSD system together with that from a multilingual WSD system to yield state of the art performance on standard All-Words data sets. The monolingual system is based on a modification of the graph based state of the art algorithm In-Degree.

Polarity classification of words is important for applications such as Opinion Mining and Sentiment Analysis. A number of sentiment word/sense dictionaries have been manually or (semi)automatically constructed. The dictionaries have substantial inaccuracies. Besides obvious instances, where the same word appears with different polarities in different dictionaries, the dictionaries exhibit complex cases, which cannot be detected by mere manual inspection.

We give a complete topological classification of properly embedded minimal surfaces in Euclidian three-space. 1. Introduction In 1980, Meeks and Yau [15] proved that properly embedded minimal surfaces of finite topology in R3 are unknotted in the sense that any two such homeomorphic surfaces are properly ambiently isotopic. Later Frohman [6] proved that any two triply periodic minimal surfaces in R3 are properly ambiently isotopic.
