Causing keratitis

The objective of this study is to report typical clinical and laboratory characteristics of three cases of keratitis caused by Pythium insidiosum in China. It is significant for ophthalmologists and microbiologist to be alert to this eye-threatening infection, especially in patients who are resistant to antifungal treatments and with water-related exposure.

Herpes zoster ophthalmicus includes a wide spectrum of lesions at the ocular surface, including epithelial, stromal, endothelial keratitis, and uveitis. Thus far, the occurrence of corneal endothelial disorder in herpes zoster ophthalmicus and the causative virus have not been conformed, and the diferential diagnosis and establishment of therapeutic strategies are challenging.

Case description A 34-year-old Caucasian male patient was admitted to our clinic with complaints of pain and blurred vision in the left eye. Distichiasis, an ocular disorder in which aberrant cilia (eyelashes) grow from the opening of the Meibomian glands of the eyelid, has been reported in Friesian horses. These misplaced cilia can cause discomfort, chronic keratitis, and corneal ulceration, potentially impacting vision due to corneal fibrosis, or, if secondary infection occurs, may lead to loss of the eye.

The aim of the study is to isolate the bacteria and fungi causing keratitis in and around the Nellore district and to do antibiotic sensitivity testing especially to identify the MDR strains. The aim of this study is to isolate and identify the various organisms from cases of infective keratitis obtained from the department of ophthalmology in our college. The eye may be infected from external sources or through intraocular invasion of microorganisms carried by the blood stream. The common eye infections caused by bacterial and fungal pathogens are blepharitis, conjunctivitis, internal and external hordeolum, keratitis, dacryocystitis. The transcription factor p63 plays a pivotal role in the development and maintenance of epithelial tissues, including the ocular surface. In an effort to gain insight into the pathogenesis of keratitis caused by HSV-1, we determined the expression patterns of the p63 and Bax proteins in the Staatens Seruminstitute Rabbit Cornea cell line (SIRC).
