Quantifying the benefit offered by transcript assembly with Scallop-LR on single-molecule long reads
Single-molecule long-read sequencing has been used to improve mRNA isoform identification. However, not all single-molecule long reads represent full transcripts due to incomplete cDNA synthesis and sequencing length limits.

Viral diseases cause greatest economic damage to the tomato crop among them Tospovirus belonging to the family of Bunyaviridae causes devastating diseases to many economically important crops including tomato. Many plant species are known to synthesize proteins with antiviral properties. The genes encoding anti viral proteins (AVPs) have been isolated and cloned from many plants. The study was conducted on synthesis of engineered Bougainvillea antiviral gene and its expression in tomato plant.

The Indian poultry industry in spite of exhibiting excellent performance in poultry production and rearing is being put to several challenges in various fronts, particularly in the form of production losses due to several diseases. Considering the reports on the occurrence of avian respiratory diseases suspected for infectious bronchitis (IB) from different parts of Kerala, in the present study, a reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT - PCR) was employed for rapid detection of infectious bronchitis virus.

In the biosynthesis of the antiarrhythmic alkaloid ajmaline, polyneuridine aldehyde esterase (PNAE) catalyses a central reaction by transforming polyneuridine aldehyde into epivellosimine, which is the immediate precursor for the synthesis of the ajmalane skeleton. The PNAE cDNA was previously heterologously expressed in E. coli. Sequence alignments indicated that PNAE has a 43% identity to a hydroxynitrile lyase from Hevea brasiliensis, which is a member of the a/b hydrolase superfamily. The catalytic triad, which is typical for this family, is conserved.

important regulators of biological processes in animals and plants. MiRNAs regulate gene expression at the posttranscriptional level by binding to mRNAs and either inhibit translation or modify the stability of the mRNA. Due to the important biological role of miRNAs it is of great interest to study their expression level in the cells. Furthermore, miRNAs have been associated with cancer and other diseases [1] and miRNA expression can help in the diagnosis and prognostic of human disease [2,3].

Weak neurotoxins from snake venom are small proteins with five disulfide bonds, which have been shown to be poor bindersof nicotinicacetylcholine receptors. We report on the cloning and sequencing of four cDNAs encoding weak neurotoxins fromNaja sputatrixvenomglands. The protein encoded by one of them, Wntx-5, has been synthesized by solid-phase synthesis and characterized.

One of the important peptide hormones that control reproduction in crus-taceans is gonad-inhibiting hormone (GIH). GIH is known to modulate gonad maturation by inhibiting synthesis of vitellogenin (Vg), the precursor of yolk proteins. In this study, a cDNA encoding a GIH (Pem-GIH) from the eyestalk of Penaeus monodonwas cloned using RT-PCR and RACE techniques.
