In this study, cellulose acetate (CA)/polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and CA/PVP/Mn2+ nanofibers were produced by the electrospinning method, and these cellulose-derived membranes were used as carriers for arginase immobilization for the first time. The structural and morphological analysis of these cellulose-derived nanofibers were determined by attenuated total reflection-Fourier to transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

The isolation of extracellular vesicles (EVs) from milk, a complex mixture of colloidal structures having a comparable size to EVs, is challenging. Although ultracentrifugation (UC) has been widely used for EV isolation, this has significant limitations, including a long processing time at high g-force conditions and large sample volume requirements.

Oromucosal administration is an attractive non-invasive route. However, drug absorption is challenged by salivary flow and the mucosa being a significant permeability barrier. The aim of this study was to design and investigate a multi-layered nanofiber-on-foam-on-film (NFF) drug delivery system with unique properties and based on polysaccharides combined as i) mucoadhesive chitosan-based nanofibers, ii) a peptide loaded hydroxypropyl methylcellulose foam, and iii) a saliva-repelling backing film based on ethylcellulose.

The implementation of cellulose as a green alternative to classical polymers sparks research on the synthesis of defined derivatives of this biopolymer for various high-tech applications. Apart from the scientific challenge, the in vitro synthesis of cellulose using a bottom-up approach provides specimens with absolutely accurate substituent patterns and degrees of polymerization, not accessible from native cellulose.

Poloxamer 407 (polox407) is widely studied as thermogelling polymer, transitioning to a gel state when warmed Polox407 forms weak hydrogels with rapid dissolution in excess solvent. This study reports the development of binary systems composed of polox407 and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) or sodium carboxymethylcellulose (NaCMC) aiming to improve the rheological and mechanical properties of the hydrogel.

Cellulose, one of the renewable and biodegradable polymers, has been extensively studied as a raw material for a newly and fully bio-based hydrogel. The synthesis of bio-hydrogel is based on the dissolution of extracted cellulose from rice straw in tetrabutylphosphonium hydroxide (TBPH) solvent followed by the gelation using epichlorohydrin (ECH) crosslinkers.

In the past years, various studies have been done on biodegradable materials to replace petroleum based plastics for food packaging application. For this purpose, biopolymers are considered the most favorable material because of their biodegradable nature and long shelf life properties like resistance to chemical or enzymatic reactions. Keeping in view the non-renewable nature and waste disposal problem of petroleum based plastics; newer concept of use of bioplastics came into existence. Bioplastics are derived from renewable resources i.e.
