Northern Song Hong Tertiary Sedimentary basin is a classic case study of a pull-apart basin in southeast Asia, whose formation was controlled by the India-Eurasia collision, sinistral and dextral strike-slip motion of the Ailao Shan-Red River Shear Zone and Opening of the East Vietnam Sea during the Cenozoic. Unlike the central and southern parts of the basin, the northern Song Hong Basin experienced a very strong inversion during the Late Miocene.

This research is a follow-up of a more comprehensive PhD study on assessment of shale gas resources in the northern Song Hong basin that was conducted at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). The Song Hong basin, a typical pull-apart Cenozoic basin, had experienced a post-extensional stage accompanied by seafloor spreading from Upper Oligocene to Lower Miocene with its stratigraphy characterised by a fault-controlled syn-rift continental sequence followed by a post-rift marine sequence.

The Sivas Basin is located in the eastern part of the central Anatolia. In this study, aeromagnetic data in the basin and surrounding area are processed and anomalies are interpreted to determine the approximate locations of the causative bodies and reveal their relationship with the tectonic trends. The sedimentary basin is surrounded by strong magnetic anomalies from the south, east, and northeast. The most apparent anomalies are observed in the E-NE of Zara, SW of Divriği, and north of Kangal.

: Fluid vents in the Sea of Marmara were discovered and investigated by several studies. In this paper, a numerical model is created for the first time to determine the possible transport mechanism behind those fluid emissions at the seafloor. The finite volume method is used for numerical simulations by implementing a commercial finite volume code, ANSYS-Fluent. The thermal and physical rock properties used in our models are taken from previous studies.

Climate aridization and increased anthropogenic pressure pose a severe threat to natural vegetation, including coastal plant communities. Those located in river basins of the desert zone of Central Asia are among the most vulnerable. Of the variety of ecosystems of the Ili-Balkhash region of Kazakhstan, forests dominated by a rare relict species Populus pruinosa Schrenk are of particular concern. This species occupies a very narrow ecological niche associated with river banks of the arid zone, which makes it very vulnerable to adverse natural and anthropogenic factors.

This study uses 2D seismic lines located in the central Song Hong Basin, covering an area of c. 3900 m2, in the water depth of c. 100 m. Focused fluid flows are developed intensively and can be classified into two types: blow - out pipe and seepage pipe.

In some areas, the flood season tends to shift gradually towards the end of the year, making the flood season appear later than before, but there are also areas where the flood season occurs earlier. The paper specifically analyzes changes in the distribution of flood season in a year under the impact of climate change in some areas in the Ca River basin, central Viet Nam.

Flooding caused by historically high flows, especially in Tra Khuc-Ve River basin in the Mid-Central region in Vietnam in November 2013, which caused widespread damage. The purpose of this paper was to establish the inundation maps in the downstream part of Tra Khuc-Ve rivers by using the coupling of the hydrological and hydraulic models (MIKE SHE/MIKE 11 and MIKE 11 GIS). Calibration and validation of the hydrological model were in good agreement in terms of the vibration amplitude, absolute value, and phases.

The coal samples spectra on FTIR analysis indicated the coals are classified into bituminous in rank. XRD analysis of coal shows minerals content on coal samples are clays minerals (kaolinite, smectite), silicate minerals (quartz, sericite, plagioclase and mica), carbonates (calcite, siderite), sulphate (anhydrite) and sulphides (pyrite).

The morphometric analysis of the Thuthapuzha river basin using GIS gives a platform for deriving the geomorphological parameters. This Kerala river basin has dendritic type of drainage network with an elongated basin. The elongated basin is described by shape parameters such as form factor, shape factor, circulatory ratio, and elongation ratio. Lower stream frequency reveals that this basin has less structural disturbance as a result of high surface runoff and fast stream flow.

Ma River is the biggest in the Central of Viet Nam with the length of 512 km and stretching over two latitudes and longitudes, therefore, the basin’s meteorological and hydrological regime is very complicated. The current situation of hydro-meteorological network in the basin is unevenly distributed with a high density in the downstream, sparse or not in the upstream particularly a part of basin belongs Lao PDR’s territory that are challenges for flood forecasting and hydrological research.

The mountainous region between the Caucasus and China is considered to be the center of domestication for grapevine. Despite the importance of Central Asia in the history of grape growing, information about the extent and distribution of grape genetic variation in this region is limited in comparison to wild and cultivated grapevines from around the Mediterranean basin.

Groundwater is a treasured underground resource, which plays a central role in sustainable water management. However, it being hidden and dynamic in nature, its sustainable development and management calls for precise quantification of this precious resource at an appropriate scale. Chance of getting good groundwater at shallow depths for irrigation is always considered as a blessing for the farmers.

The Bolu Basin in northwestern Turkey, situated in the western part of the North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAFZ), displays the neotectonic features of a pull apart basin. The long axis of the basin extends east–west, parallel to the fault zone and Bolu city, situated in the central part of this basin, was extensively damaged during the 17 August 1999 M= 7.4 and 12 November 1999 M= 7.2 earthquakes.

The Ezinepazar-Sungurlu Fault (EzSF) is a major off shoot of the dextral North Anatolian Fault (NAF) zone, which bifurcates from the main fault strand around the Niksar pull-apart basin (37°E) and strikes through the Central Anatolian Block for 200 km to the west (34°E).

The North Anatolian Fault System (NAFS) that separates the Eurasian plate in the north from the Anatolian microplate in the south is an intracontinental transform plate boundary. Its course makes a northward convex archshaped pattern by flexure in its central part between Ladik in the east and Kargı in the west. A number of strike-slip basins of dissimilar type and age occur within the NAFS.
