This study investigated the role of perennial crop systems in enhancing sustainable livelihoods among rural households in Dak Lak province, Vietnam, with a particular focus on coffee and pepper crops. Magnolia citrata Noot. & Chalermglin was collected in the Central Highlands of Vietnam and examined for its essential oils’ chemical compositions and antimicrobial activities. The essential oils were obtained from the leaves, twigs, and stem barks of M. citrata using hydrodistillation, then analyzed using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and evaluated for antimicrobial activities.

Groundwater potential zoning using Logistics Model Trees based novel ensemble machine learning model
n this work, the main aim is to map the potential zones of groundwater in Central Highlands (Vietnam) using a novel ensemble machine learning model, namely CG-LMT, which is a combination of two advanced techniques, namely Cascade Generalization (CG) and Logistics Model Trees (LMT). For this, a total of 501 wells data and a set of twelve affecting factors were gathered and selected to generate training and testing datasets used for building and validating the model.

The study focuses on assessing the effectiveness of bauxite mining and processing in the Central Highlands through the example of Tan Rai (Lam Dong) and Nhan Co (Dak Nong) bauxitealumina complexes by the method of extended cost benefit analysis. External costs have been localized to be taken into account, including opportunity costs, environmental costs, corporate social responsibility costs and contingency costs for environmental incidents.

Recently, drought has occurred severely in the Central Highland of Vietnam, particularly during dry seasons of El Niño years. Towards disaster mitigation and sustainable management for drought, this study aims to clarify relationship between drought area detected in dry peak month (March) in years El Niño occurred such as 1998, 1999, 2004, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2016 with local main climate factors and land-uses.
