In the present study a cast iron pulley operated centrifugal pump was selected which has 11 components namely casing, impeller, shaft, pulley, bearing stand, bearing cover, top flange, bottom flange, gland, counter weight and base. It was found that the present existing centrifugal pumps have many technical disadvantage related to its cost, weight, corrosion and wear and tear. During the study it was found that these technical disadvantages can be overcome by replacing the metallic parts of pumps with the engineering plastic materials.

The crystallization system includes crystallization units, centrifugal pump and Sugar grader unit. If anyone of these units fails, overall refining system fails.

The experiment results reveal suitability of using a mono block centrifugal pump in hydro turbine mode. The results confirm that the pump in hydro turbine mode operate at higher heads and discharge as compared to the pump mode operation. BEP (best efficiency point) for the pump in hydro turbine mode is lower than in pump mode operation. Correlations proposed by earlier researchers for performance prediction of pump in hydro turbine mode are also tested.

The efficacy and flow characteristics of a high-temperature centrifugal pump and argon gas lift were obtained for pumping the molten salt at temperatures up to 500
C. The rig design proved suitable on an industrial scale and transfer methods appropriate for use in future molten salt systems. Corrosion within the rig was managed, and melting techniques were optimized to reduce stresses on the rig. The results obtained improve the understanding of molten salt transport dynamics, materials.

As a conventional treatment process, centrifugal dewatering of sludge required an additional energy of 1,376 kWh per day for recycling, pumping, mixing as well as transporting sludge. The conclusion was that anaerobic digestion can reduce the green-house gases versus conventional dewatering. The results from this research can thus demonstrate the applicability of anaerobic digestion on conversion of waste to energy, looking forward to resource recovery.
