The purpose of this study is to determine the content of adulterated protein enhancers, ammelide (AMD) and dicyandiamide (DCD), in animal feed according to the sample preparation process including the cleaning process by solid phase extraction (SPE) and quantification by HPLC-MS/MS. Method limit detection and quantitation values for both AMD and DCD were of 5 and 10 ppb, respectively.

Dystocia or difficulty in parturition in a doe may need veterinary assistance for the successful parturition. An adult crossbred Jamunapari doe weighing 60 kg was presented to Farmers Training Centre, Theni with the history of difficulty in giving birth and animal straining continuously. Fetus tail was observed as protruding out from vulva. Through physical evaluation of the doe by per vaginal examination, the condition was diagnosed as fetal dystocia.

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of Lugol’s Iodine in 20 infectious repeat breeder crossbred cows brought to the AI centre of Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics of College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Mhow and in nearby Government AI centres. Animals were divided into two groups of ten in each. The animals in first group were treated with intrauterine infusion of 0.3 per cent concentration of I2KI w/v dissolved in saline to make 30 ml at 24 hrs intervals for 2 days.

Present study was done to examine the seasonal effects of different housing conditions on the performance of crossbred cattle calves (Karan Fries). Thirty healthy female calves of age between 5 and 6 months were selected and divided into five groups (six animals per group) and reared under different housing conditions for a period of 7 months.

The present study was undertaken to the estimate inbreeding coefficient in Corriedale sheep under different agro-climatic conditions of Jammu and Kashmir. The pedigree file of 6,874 records of Corriedale sheep, maintained at Mountain Research Centre for Sheep & Goat (MRCSG), F.V.Sc & A.H, SKUAST-K Shuhama, for a period of 49 years (1969- 2017) was used to calculate inbreeding coefficients. The individual inbreeding coefficients were measured by Wright’s formula and was computed from the pedigree containing 6,874 animals using CFC software package and expressed as percentage.

In the past few years, India has made rapid improvement in provision of services on prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS. The number of Integrated Counseling and Testing Centres (ICTC) increased from only 2815 in 2005-2006 to 5135 till December 2009 and the number of persons tested in the corresponding year increased from 2.7 million to more than 7 million. The last decade or so has seen remarkable advances in our knowledge of cough. This applies especially to its basic mechanisms: the types of airway sensors, the pharmacological receptors on their membranes, the brainstem organization of the ‘cough centre’, and the involvement of the cerebral cortex in the sensations and the voluntary control of cough. With the exception of the last of these, nearly all the studies have been on experimental animals rather than humans, for obvious reasons.

The extensive use of visual images is a core feature of this book. Over 570 figures and 65 summary tables are used to illustrate various cardiovascular disease conditions and key concepts. The opportunity to write such a richly illustrated book is what drew me to this project. Over twenty years of teaching veterinary students and interacting with veterinary practitioners has convinced me of the importance of visual learning. Most of the images were collected in the course of my practice at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
