Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) is the most popular vegetable grown across the world. Wilt disease caused by the fungus Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici is one of the most devastating and destructive disease of tomato, resulting in significant yield loss. The pathogen causing wilt disease in tomato was isolated and confirmed its pathogenicity in glasshouse experiment. The effect of fungal biocontrol agent Chaetomium spp. was studied against fusarium wilt pathogen under in vitro condition. Among the Chaetomium spp., Ch. cochiloides showed highest inhibition percentage of 64.

Extensive investigations carried out on the incidence of common and toxigenic fungi revealed that all types of broiler feeds were found to be infested by common as well as toxigenic fungi and none of the samples was free from contamination. Aspergillus species were dominant in all the samples, followed by species of Penicillium, Fusarium, Alternaria and Chaetomium.

Total heterogeneous grouping was observed for the Chaetomium species using the calmodulin sequences. Among all the regions studied in this study for grouping the most diversified grouping was observed with rpb2 gene. Better homogeneity was observed even with tef-1 region. But among all ITS was established as the best region for grouping of Chaetomium species.

Present investigation emphasizes on isolation and identification of soil fungi of banana (Musa paradisiaca L.) fields from Baramati area of Pune district of Maharashtra. The isolation of soil fungi was done by using serial dilution method and Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) medium. Morphological characters of fungi were used for their identification. Total 22 fungal species were recorded throughout the study. The contribution of Deuteromycotina was 63.63% followed by Zygomycotina 18.18%, Ascomycotina 13.63% and Mastigomycotina 4.54%.

The tomato leaves infected with early blight recorded the highest leaf surface fungal species than non-infected leaves. In total twenty six fungal species (thirteen genera) were isolated from both diseased infected and noninfected leaf surface of tomato from seven districts of Meghalaya, following leaf impression, leaf washing and dilution plating and leaf washing and serial dilution plating methods. Among all the three methods used leaf impression method recovered the highest fungal population followed by serial dilution plating and leaf washing and dilution plating method.
