The research "Detection of land surface temperature change in coal mining area using remote sensing and GIS techniques - A case study in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam" explores Land Surface Temperature (LST), which represents the energy exchange between the land surface and the atmosphere, as well as with the biosphere. Variations in surface temperature can lead to the formation of heat islands characterized by higher temperatures compared to surrounding areas.

Floodplains are areas adjacent to rivers or lakes that are subject to recurring inundation. Notwithstanding floodplains play significant roles because of its multi-functions, it is impacted adversely by many factors. This study aims to focus on the floodplain development in Bui river belonging to Hoa Binh province and Hanoi capital regarding possible impacts due to land-use change from 2004 to 2015.

Monitoring spatiotemporal changes in land surface temperature in metropolitan areas is important to obtain the necessary information about environmental conditions and promote sustainable cities. Da Nang is a big city and is considered one of the tourist centers of Vietnam. Economic development and population growth lead to the expansion of urban land there.

The prolonged drought due to climate change has significantly affected the agricultural production of rural communities in the mountainous and plain areas of Vietnam. We use the standardized precipitation index (SPI) combined with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) to simulate and forecast the impacts of drought on agricultural land use in Bac Tra My district, Quang Nam province, in the study.

Flood is one of the most commonly occurring forms of natural disaster which damage to environment and society. In order to contribute to the work of mitigating the effect of climate change as well as floods' damage, this study introduces a method to simulate discharge with respect to design storm through hydrological modeling system (HMS).

Mangrove forests are found along shallow shorelines with modest slopes where they receive freshwater runoff and nutrients from rainfall. They have been globally recognised as having a vital function in preventing coastal erosion, mitigating wave actions, and protecting coastal habitats and adjacent shoreline land-uses from extreme coastal events.

Understanding the processes of displacement and redistribution of soil particles caused by different erosion types is considered an efficient sediment management tool in various scales from the field plot to the watershed. The rainfed agriculture practices on high gradient slopes are one of the main sources of accelerated soil erosion due to the disturbance of soil structure by tillage processes.

The aim of this study is to compare the bioclimatic comfort conditions of Uşak city between 1990 and 2018. In the first stage, the bioclimatic comfort conditions of the city centre between 1990 and 2018 were determined according to the Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET) index obtained from the RayMan model by using hourly data of the meteorological station in the city centre; air temperature (°C), relative humidity (%), wind velocity(m/s) and cloudiness (octa).

In this article, the author proposes that Landsat images should be pre-processed using the DOS method for atmospheric correction and the Gram-Schmidt method for image enhancement. According to the results, the overall classification accuracy of multi-temporal images achieved over 85%, and Landsat images are suitable for classifying land cover on small islands in Truong Sa Islands, such as Subi Reef.
