The paper results showed that the more than ten years mangrove community is a stable forest biome. Mangroves from 10 years old should be planned with different species to increase the diversity in species structure and enhance the ability to stabilize the community and withstand changes in coastal habitats.

This paper estimated the degree of elasticity substitution of inputs, particularly young labor, older labor, and physical capital. The elasticity of input substitution was estimated using a nested constant elasticity of substitution (CES) production function and nonlinear regression analysis. Research data were obtained from the annual secondary data of government sources from 1990 to 2013. The findings indicated that the input substitutability of young and older labor was low. However, capital and labor could substitute for each other.

Ascorbic acid is often regarded as an antioxidantin vivo, where it protects against cancer by scavenging DNA-dam-aging reactive oxygen species. However, the detailed mech-anism of the action of ascorbic acid on genetic DNA is still unclear. We examined the effect of ascorbic acid on the higher-order structure of DNA through real-time observa-tion by fluorescence microscopy. We found that ascorbic acid generates a pearling structure in single giant DNA molecules, with elongated and compact regions coexisting along a molecular chain. ...

Aging is accompanied by a gradual deterioration of cell functions. Mitochondrial dysfunction and accumulation of protein damage have been proposed to contribute to this process. The present study was carried out to examine the effects of aging in mitochondrial matrix isolated from rat liver. The activity of Lon protease, an enzyme implicated in the degradation of abnormal matrix proteins, was meas-ured and the accumulation of oxidation and glycoxidation (N e -carboxymethyllysine, CML) products was monitored using immunochemical assays....

Aging and Oral Health While tooth loss and dental disease are not normal consequences of aging, a complex array of structural and functional changes occurs with age that can affect oral health. Subtle changes in tooth structure (e.g., diminished pulp space and volume, sclerosis of dentinal tubules, altered proportions of nerve and vascular pulp content) result in diminished or altered pain sensitivity, reduced reparative capacity, and increased tooth brittleness.
