The research work comprising of genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance as well as correlation and path analysis study for 12 quantitative traits in three genotypes of cotton (Gossypium arboreum L.) was carried out during 2015 and 2016 at Research Farm of Cotton Section, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, India. The genotypic differences were significant for all the traits except number of monopods/plant and number of seeds/boll.

The pod yield was significantly and positively correlated with pod weight, pod girth, pericarp thickness, seed weight per pod, number of pods per plant and weight of 100 seeds. The path coefficient analysis using the phenotypic correlation coefficient among the pair of characters showed that number of pods per plant had the highest positive direct effect on yield. At last it could be concluded that PSM-3 and PSM5 are best performing varieties for this region according to green pod yield.

Black gram is a major pulse crop and a good source of proteins and minerals. Genotypic correlation and path coefficient analysis were used to determine the effect of various traits as components of seed yield in fifty black gram genotypes. Genotypic correlations were recorded higher as compared to corresponding phenotypic correlations for majority of the traits under study indicating that there was an inherent association between these characters at genotypic level.

The present investigation was under taken during rabi 2014-15 under rice fallow condition at District Seed Farm Kalyani, BCKV, W.B. Fifteen elite genotypes of chickpea (3 kabuli and 12 desi) were taken to evaluate and select the better yielding genotype(s) based on the nodulation behavior as well as root morphology, suitable for new alluvial zone of West Bengal and also to estimate the correlation among different underground and above ground agromorphic traits including yield.

This research was carried out the correlation among the yield and yield attributing characters and their path analysis for 30 genotypes of Barley in a Randomize Block Design (RBD) with three replications in two environments. The seed yield per plant was found to be positively and significantly associated with plant height, biological yield per plant, test weight, number of spikelets per spike and spike length in both the environments.

An investigation was carried out using 20 opium genotypes, to study character association between fourteen characters and their direct and indirect effect on seed yield and latex yield independently. Association study indicated that seed yield per plant had significant positive correlation with diameter of main capsule (0.60) and latex yield per plant (0.60). Whereas latex yield per plant had significant positive correlation with days to 50 per cent flowering (0.53) and seed yield per plant (0.

The sesame germplasm consisting of thirty three accessions were assessed for the extent of variability, degree and direction of character association among yield and its contributing traits and the direct and indirect effects of various components on yield. Analysis of variance showed significant differences among the genotypes for almost all the characters studied. High and moderate phenotypic and genotypic coefficients of variation (PCV and GCV) were noticed for most of the yield contributing characters.

Correlation studies were conducted by using 10 parents, 45 hybrids and one commercial check of upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) suggested that significant positive association of seed cotton yield with lint yield, number of sympodia per plant, number of bolls per plant, number of monopodia per plant, reproductive point per plant, lint index, Ginning outturn, plant height, seed index and boll weight will play a major role in seed cotton yield improvement and these characters should be considered as significant selection criteria for yield improvement in cotton.

The genetic nature of character association for various traits was studied in Rabi sorghum using F2 populations derived from four crosses of M 35-1 with specialty varieties viz., AKJ-1 (flaking), KMJ - 1 (popping), and SMJ-1 & RSJ-1 (hurda purpose). These varieties derived from landraces are recommended for cultivation in Northern Dry Zone of Karnataka.

What is an important food crop in India but of the entire world. The study indicates that the analysis of the variance showed highly significant differences for all the characters. Genetic variability indicated that high estimates of GCV and PCV were observed for the traits like 1000 grain weight, grains per spike, spikelets per spike, spike length and yield per plot. Further, high heritability coupled with high genetic advance as percent of mean was also observed, indicating the less influence of environmental variance in these characters.

The estimates of genotypic correlation coefficients in general were higher than their corresponding phenotypic correlation coefficients indicating strong inherent association among the traits. The seed yield per plant had significant and positive association with number of primary branches plant-1, number of secondary branches plant-1 , number of pods plant-1 , number of seeds plant-1 , biological yield plant-1 , seed yield (kg/ha) harvest index and 100-seed weight at both genotypic as well as phenotypic levels.

Correlation and path coefficient analysis were carried out for yield and yield attributing traits in 60 genotypes of sesame during 2018. The genotypic correlation coefficients were found to be of relatively higher magnitude than phenotypic correlation coefficient, indicating strong inherent correlation between traits. The seed yield/plant exhibited positive and significant correlation with days to flower initiation, days to 50% flowering, number of primary branches per plant, number of secondary branches per plant and number of capsules per plant both at genotypic and phenotypic levels.
