Chemical fertilisers
-
The use of resource management technologies such as zero tillage, which can affect the soil properties, can restore soil health that is degrading at a rapid pace due to intensive agriculture, inefficient and imbalanced use of fertilisers, high-yielding crops, the use of heavy machinery, excessive tillage, etc. The health of the soil can be measured by the capacity of microorganisms that can act as early warning signals. To improve soil quality, zero tillage is recommended globally and has significant effects on soil microbial communities.

The chemical fertilisers when applied to soil more than the recommended, it not only affects the yield of flowers but also affects on deterioration of soil health. As an alternative to this, the low cost bio-fertilisers are one of the solutions which will help the farmers to reduce the cost of cultivation. This need to experimented. In view of this, the study was conducted to find out the influence of Vermicompost in combination with Microbial Consortium on reproductive parameters of Chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora L.) cv. Marigold.

Although soil fertility mapping can help to apply appropriate fertilisers and effective fertility management techniques, there is still little information about spatial variability in fertility status of soil. Therefore this study was conducted at Hingoli and Sengaon tahsils with objects of assessing fertility status. From the study area 200 soil samples were collected and analysed in laboratory for micro nutrients.

Minimizing mineral fertilization through use of different sources of organic manure was studied on four walnut selections in temperate region of India (Kashmir) The experiment consisted of four selections [SKAU/002 (S1), SKAU/008 (S2), SKAU/024 (S2) and SKAU/040 (S2)] and six treatments [T1 (NPK recommended as per package of practices through inorganic fertilizers), T2 [100 % through manure (FYM 50% + vermicompost 25% + poultry manure 25%)], T3 (75% NPK through inorganic fertilizers + 25 % through FYM), T4 (75 % NPK through inorganic fertilizers + 25 % through vermicompost), T5 (75 % NPK th...

In hilly areas, local population with their traditional knowledge utilize several medicinal herbs and plants parts for treating injuries and aliments of their livestock, agricultural crop and human population. Among these Pyrus pashia, commonly known as Indian pear or Mehal is hardy wild mid hill fruiting tree. Crude leave extract traditionally used for treating infection of toe finger particularly during rainy season. Fruit juice and ripe fruits of P. pashia used for treating eye injury and mouth sours.

An experiment was conducted to elucidate the effectiveness of different soil organic amendments and chemical fertilizers on growth and yield of tuberose. the result of the study revealed that among all the organic manures and their combinations with inorganic fertilisers, the best results were recorded in T9 [75% N (Urea) + 25% N (Mustard oil cake)] with respect to vegetative parameters (plant height, number of leaves per plant, leaf length).

Maize is considered as important cereal crop which occupies third position after rice and wheat. Maize is considered as heavy feeder of nutrients and requires continuous and assured supply of nutrients throughout its growth period. Now-a-days, maize is grown under intensive agricultural conditions with more of chemical fertilisers although organic fertilizers are minimally used. The increased change in prices of fertilisers, deterioration of soil health and environmental concerns, are necessitating the use of organic manures which is gaining momentum.

Pollination is the act of transferring pollen grains from the male anther of a flower to the female stigma. Mimicry in plants is where a plant organism evolves to resemble another organism physically or chemically, increasing the mimic's Darwinian fitness. Mimicry in plants has been studied far less than mimicry in animals, with fewer documented cases and peer-reviewed studies. It may provide protection against herbivory, or may deceptively encourage mutualists, like pollinators, to provide a service without offering a reward in return.

The modern organic movement began in Europe around the 1920s, when a group of farmers and consumers sought an alternative to the industrialisation of agriculture. Of key importance to these farmers and consumers was caring for the soil and natural processes upon which agriculture depends, including not using inputs such as artificial fertilisers and synthetic chemicals. A leading figure at the time was the Austrian thinker, Rudolf Steiner, whose ideas led to a system of cultivation known as biodynamic.

Biofertilisers are defined in this application as microbial inoculants, isolated from soil or the rhizosphere of plants, assisting the mobilisation of soil nutrients such as N and P and others in the plant rhizosphere and thus promoting the growth rate and yield of plants. Successful biofertilisers can contribute to increases in food production in a highly sustainable manner, with economic and environmental advantages.
