Vascular calcification (VC) is a key process associated with cardiovascular mortality in dialysis patients. Gelsolin is an actin-binding protein that can modulate inflammation, correlated inversely with hemodialysis (HD) mortality and involved in bone calcification homeostasis. In this report, we aim to characterize progression in aortic arch calcification (AAC) and investigate its association with gelsolin.

Treating comorbid depression could increase adherence to interventions for chronic medical illness Comorbid depression is the existence of a depressive disorder (i.e. major depression, dysthymia or adjustment disorder) along with a physical disease (infectious, cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders, diabetes mellitus or cancer). It is neither a chance phenomenon nor a mere feeling of demoral- ization or sadness brought on by the hardships of a chronic illness.

Carbon Monoxide is toxic to humans. Even healthy people can be affected by carbon monoxide. Differential Diagnosis Dyspnea is the consequence of deviations from normal function in the cardiopulmonary systems. Alterations in the respiratory system can be considered in the context of the controller (stimulation of breathing); the ventilatory pump (the bones and muscles that form the chest wall, the airways, and the pleura); and the gas exchanger (the alveoli, pulmonary vasculature, and surrounding lung parenchyma). Similarly, alterations in the cardiovascular system can be grouped into three categories: conditions associated with high, normal, and low cardiac output (Fig. 33-2).
