The pathotypes of Ascochyta rabiei, which causes ascochyta blight, show a high pathogenic variation. Forty-four chickpeas, including 26 cultivars commonly cultivated in Turkey and 18 global genotypes, were characterized for resistance status to ascochyta blight following inoculation with four pathotypes of A. rabiei. The pathogenicity experiments were conducted using the whole-plant inoculation method and completely randomized designs with three replicates.

Chickpea is an important food legume crop with high protein levels that is widely grown in rainfed areas prone to drought stress. Using an integrated approach, we describe the relative changes in some physiological parameters and the proteome of a drought-tolerant (MCC537, T) and drought-sensitive (MCC806, S) chickpea genotype.

Chickpea is best nutritional crop in leguminous species, and biotic and abiotic stress affects the yield loss around 50 to 60 % .For preventing yield loss from this stress, it is necessary to developed high yield, qualitative variety of chickpea. In vitro methods are best technique for regeneration and development of transgenic variety of chickpea. In this investigation research to determine chickpea in vitro micropropagation was studied in genotypes; of chickpea JG62, JG63 JG315, VIJAY and Bhupdachana with explants immature cotyledonary and embryonic axis.

Two hundred and fifty chickpea germplasm were evaluated against beet army worm Spodoptera exigua during the year 2013-14 and 2014-15. Eighteen promising chickpea genotypes with low levels of susceptibility were selected Among the 250 germplasms tested, and screened for three consecutive years viz., 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 for confirmation of tolerance against the insect pest under natural field conditions at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh.

Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L., 2n=16) is a legume of family Fabaceae, subfamily Faboideae. Chickpea is the second largest grown food legume of the world (Gaur et al., 2008). Genetic divergence among 28 genotypes of Cicer arietinum L. was assessed through RAPD molecular markers. RAPD analysis showed 93.36 per cent of polymorphism...

Correlation and path analysis was worked out among thirty chickpea genotypes with three replications under both rainfed and irrigated conditions utilising yield, drought tolerant traits and mechanical harvestable traits during rabi, 2018 at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh, India. Biological yield per plot and harvest index exhibited significant positive correlation with seed yield and drought tolerance index. 100 seed weight and number of pods per plant also contributed positively to DTI and seed yield under rainfed conditions.

The present investigation entitled, Phenotypic and Genotypic path coefficient analysis Studies in Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) was conducted at Agricultural Research Station, Badnapur, Dist- Jalna (VNMKV, Parbhani) ( M.S.) during Rabi season of 2019-20. The exploration of genetically variable accession or genotypes is the key source of germplasm conservation and potential breeding material for the future use. The highly divergence group of cultivars provides an opportunity to breeders for developing superior and new varieties considering their quality traits for direct commercial utilization.

Seed is a basic and costly input in agriculture. Genotypes of a crop varying in seed size and growth behaviour may differ in optimal seed rate for realizing high grain yields. Field experiments were conducted for three years at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, India to study the growth, productivity and economics of kabuli chickpea genotypes in response to seeding rate.

A standard multi-factor analysis of variance showed the main effect due to years, locations and first order interactions (year x location) were highly significant. The main effect for genotype, first order interaction (varieties x locations), (variety x year) and second order interaction (varieties x locations x year) were highly significant. The highly significant interactions indicate that varieties need to be tested in severe years and locations in order to select stable variety.
