Central nervous system (CNS) tumors are the most common solid tumors in children and the leading cause of cancer-related death in the latter. Currently, the incidence rate exceeds that of leukemia and ranks first in the incidence of malignant tumors in children.

In children, the central nervous system tumors are exceeded in incidence only by leukemia and are more common than any of the other malignancies of childhood. Childhood central nervous system tumors encompass a range of histologic varieties from the histologically benignappearing pilocytic astrocytoma to the extremely malignant-appearing glioblastoma multiforme and the undifferentiated primitive neuroectodermal tumors. Similarly, the biologic behavior of childhood brain tumors varies not only according to histology but also with location of the tumor and age.

Neoepitopes derived from tumor-specific somatic mutations are promising targets for immunotherapy in childhood cancers. However, the potential for such therapies in targeting these epitopes remains uncertain due to a lack of knowledge of the neoepitope landscape in childhood cancer.

Children with relapsed central nervous system (CNS tumors), neuroblastoma, sarcomas, and other rare solid tumors face poor outcomes. This prospective clinical trial examined the feasibility of combining genomic and transcriptomic profiling of tumor samples with a molecular tumor board (MTB) approach to make real‑time treatment decisions for children with relapsed/refractory solid tumors.

Allergic rhinitis is the most common allergic disease encountered in a primary care setting. Diagnosis is often made clinically based on response to empiric therapy. However, with long-term treatment failure and/or atypical disease presentation, a differential diagnosis should be considered.

Neuroblastoma, a neuroendocrine tumor originating from the sympathetic ganglia, is one of the most common malignancies in childhood. RTEL1 is critical in many fundamental cellular processes, such as DNA replication, DNA damage repair, genomic integrity, and telomere stability.

Neuroblastoma (NB) is a childhood malignant tumor,50% of high-risk NB children still have recurrence, and the long-term survival rate is very low. NB tumors expressing high levels of BDNF/TrkB are associated with poor survival outcomes. In this study, we show that the trends of serum concentration of BDNF at different growth stages after birth, and explore the relationship with NB replase.

Febrile seizures happening between 6 months and 5 years are considered the most prevalent form of childhood seizures. It is defined as seizures occurring during fever in children without central nervous system infection. Pro-inflammatory cytokines released during infection play an essential role in the mechanism of febrile seizures. Studies try to clear the responsibility of these pro-inflammatory cytokines in the pathogenesis of febrile seizures. In this study we aimed to evaluate the relation between febrile seizures and serum TNF-α andIL-1β.

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) represent about 77% of leukemia in children and it is one of the most common malignancies in children. Bone Sialoprotein-1 is a tumor – associated antigen that is highly expressed in many malignancies in human. This study was aimed to study the role of Bone Sialoprotein-1 and its receptors CD44 variant 6 in children’s with acute lymphoblastic Leukemia in Tanta University Hospital. This study was carried out in hematology unit, pediatric department and clinical pathology department, Tanta university hospital, Egypt.

Retinoblastoma (Rb) is the most common intraocular tumor in childhood worldwide. It is a deadly pediatric eye cancer. The main cause of death in Rb patients is intracranial and systemic metastasis. ROCK is the main downstream effector of Ras-homologous (Rho) family of GTPases which are involved in many cellular functions, such as cell proliferation, invasion and metastasis.
