Field experiments were conducted during kharif 2005, to study the effect of organic amendments on the activity of chilli thrips and mites. In the nursery, seedlings receiving vermicompost (500 g/m2) and neem cake (100 g/m2) resulted in higher seedling vigour index, comparable to the standard check. Subsequently these seedlings were transplanted in the main field amended with vermicompost (2.5 t/ha), neem cake (0.5 t/ha), combined application of vermicompost and neem cake at half dosages and standard check receiving inorganic fertilizers and plant protection.

The two field experiments were conducted at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu to evaluate bioefficacy, phytotoxicity effect if any of fipronil 200 SC w/v against aphids, thrips, fruit borer and its safety to non target invertebrates in chilli during June – October 2014 and 2015. The results revealed fipronil 200 SC w/v @ 50 g ai ha-1 was found as efficient treatment in reducing aphids, thrips and fruit borer. The pooled mean population (two consecutive seasons) of aphids and fruit borer larvae was recorded as 0.37 five leaves-1 and 0.43 plant -1 respectively.

A field experiment was conducted during Rabi season of 2015-16 in Horticulture nursery, College of Agriculture, Indore to tested efficacy by using different doses of emamectin benzoate 3.7% + diafenthiuron 46.3% WP against chilli thrips. Among different treatments, T3 (Emamectin benzoate 3.7%+diafenthiuron 46.3%WP @ 250 g/ha) has proved as the best treatment for controlling thrips population and found superior over other treatment followed by T2 (Emamectin benzoate 3.7%+diafenthiuron 46.3%WP @ 200 g/ha). Highest green chilli yield of 171.11 q/ha was registered in T3 (Emamectin benzoate 3.
