  • Blend solutions of poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and N-(2-hydroxy)-propyl-3-trimethylammonium chitosan chloride (QCh) were successfully electrospun. Tensile tests revealed that the nonwovens present a good balance between elasticity and strength under both dry and hydrated state. Results indicate that the PCL/ QCh electrospun nonwovens are new nanofibers-based biomaterials potentially useful as wound dressings.

  • This study is conducted to compare the repair efficacy of chitosan application on hoof lesions with the conventional treatment materials, regarding the aspects of clinical, radiographical and hematological findings. Since the puncture wounds including hoof abscess is the main cause of lameness and the difficulties in healing of hoof lesions due to difficulties in contraction and the high incidences for contamination.

  • . One approach in wound dressing development is to incorporate active molecules or drugs in the dressing. In order to reduce the frequency of dressing changes as well as to prolong wound healing efficacy, wound dressings that can sustain the release of the active molecules should be developed. In our previous work, we developed chitosan/sericin (CH/SS) microspheres that released sericin in a controlled rate. However, the difficulty of applying the microspheres that easily diffuse and quickly degrade onto the wound was its limitations.
