The model species Tetranychus urticae produces important plant injury and economic losses in the field. The current accepted method for the quantification of the spider mite damage in Arabidopsis whole rosettes is time consuming and entails a bottleneck for large-scale studies such as mutant screening or quantitative genetic analyses.

The Groundnut bud necrosis virus (GBNV) induced symptoms such as bud necrosis, chlorotic and necrotic spots on leaves of tomato, chilli and brinjal were collected from field for mechanical inoculation on cow pea (var. C-152) as local lesion host. The electron microscopic observation of the purified preparation of diseased samples showed the presence of spherical, membrane bound particles (80-120 nm) of typical tospoviruses.

A field survey was conducted in major tomato growing districts of Tamil Nadu viz., Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Salem and Madurai during 2015-2016. Groundnut bud necrosis virus (GBNV) infection on tomato exhibited the symptoms viz., chlorotic and necrotic spots on leaves, necrosis of growing young buds (bud blight), bronzing, wilting and stunting. The per cent disease incidence of GBNV ranged from 18.6% to 35.3% in the above districts. A high per cent disease incidence of 35.3% was recorded in Thondamuthur village of Coimbatore district. Field surveys were conducted between 2015-2018 to determine the occurrence and distribution of PNRSV infecting peach in 40 orchards representing major peach producing districts of Himachal Pradesh Symptomatic trees typical of viral infection present in all the orchards surveyed exhibited chlorotic spots, necrotic rings, leaf deformation and shot hole symptoms with an incidence ranging from 1 to 47 percent. DAC-ELISA confirmed the association of an Ilarvirus with peach cv.

Plant samples were collected from the main apple growing provinces of Turkey in order to evaluate the incidence of 4 important apple virus diseases during spring 2004. Collected leaves and shoots were tested using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for Apple mosaic virus (ApMV), Apple stem grooving virus (ASGV) and Apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV).
