  • Ebook "Targeted delivery of pesticides using biodegradable polymeric nanoparticles" is the first to focus exclusively on environmentally friendly delivery of pesticides (controlled-release nanoparticulate formulation of pesticides using biodegradable polymers as carriers). The brief also introduces pesticides like Chlorpyrifos and biodegradable polymers like guar-gum. The brief will be extremely useful to the researchers in the field of agrochemicals and will be equally useful for advanced professionals in the field of biology, chemistry, environmental biology, entomology and horticulture.

  • Study aim to evaluate the effect of chlorpyrifos on several metabolic and stress related parameters associated with pesticide resistance. The experiment was conducted at Indian Institute of Soil Science (ICAR), Bhopal (MP) during 2015-2016, comprising four concentrations of pesticide chlorpyrifos viz. 0%, 0.25%, 0.75% and 1.25%. The commencement of foliar treatment applied on vegetative phase i.e., 30, 45 and 60 days after sowing on soybean (Kharif) and wheat (rabi).

  • Chlorpyrifos (0, 0 – diethyl 0 - (3, 5, 6 – trichloro – 2 - pyridyl phosphorothioate) is broadspectrum pesticide with trade names Dursban, Lorsban and Spannit, displaying insecticidal activity against Lepidoptera, Diptera, Homoptera, Coleoptera, Orthoptera, Hymenoptera and Hemiptera. However, these organophosphates pesticides have acute neurotoxicity as they suppress acetylcholine esterase (AChE). Hence, present study deals with exploring bacteria for chlorpyrifos degradation ability. Total 10 different samples were collected from soil where chlorpyrifos pesticide was applied.

  • In modern agriculture there is a pivotal role of pesticides in pest management though, the side effect pesticides on soil biological system is non avoidable. Experimental result shows that imidacloprid recorded 21.42% increased azotobacter population while chlorpyrifos recorded 31.04% less azotobacter in comparison with untreated check. All the treatments showed negative impact on the rhizobium population and rate of growth inhibition was 30.81% to 55.18%; whereas the inhibition rate was ranged 22.08% to 54.37% in case of total bacteria population.

  • The study reveals the possibility to use simultaneously botanicals and pesticide control products as efficient and environmental friendly for disease control, which could provide a decrease of the pesticide dose needed for plant protection. This experiment reports the in vitro compatibility of botanicals viz., Garcinia indica and Prosopis juliflora and pesticides Viz., Streptocycline, 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol,Carbendazim, Difenconazole, Hexaconazole, Propiconazol, Chlorothalonil, Copper oxychloride, Mancozeb, Chlorpyrifos, Dichlorovas and Dimethoate.

  • Pesticides have substantially contributed for controlling of pests and increasing crop yields. But over the years there is growing concern about indiscriminate use of pesticides in agriculture. A survey was conducted among 150 farmers in cauliflower and brinjal cultivating areas of Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Una districts Himachal Pradesh, India in 2015- 2016. Most commonly used pesticides applied by the farmers on cauliflower and brinjal were malathion, chlorpyrifos, cypermethrin, carbendazim and mancozeb.

  • Chlorpyrifos (O,O-diethyl O-3, 5, 6-trichloro-2-pyridyl phosphorothioate) is a widely used broad-spectrum organophosphate pesticide. Widespread and indiscriminate use of Chlorpyrifos has led to severe environmental problems. Bioremediation would be the only eco-friendly solution for Chlorpyrifos persistence in the environment. Many bacteria are capable of degrading Chlorpyrifos in liquid media. Thus, the current study attempted to isolate Chlorpyrifos degrading bacteria from pesticide applied soil.

  • The injudicious and indiscriminate application of pesticides to crops results in pesticide residues in food and food commodities with consequential hazards. The extent of hazard depends on the number of pesticide residues on crops and their toxicity. The main objective of this study was focused on determining the likely presence of pesticide residues in cereals and pulse samples in Sikrai Tehsil Dausa district, Rajasthan. The study was carried out for the year 2017 and 2018. 150 samples were taken from different farms and market analyzed using GC-MS/MS& LC-MS/MS.

  • Today's burning problem in the world is pesticide residues in foods. To overcome this problem, nineteen chlorpyrifos-degrading bacteria were isolated from soil of adjoining area of pesticide manufacturing industries located in Gujarat, India. The strain CPD-12 (MR2) degraded highest chlorpyrifos among the other strains isolated from different sites, i.e. Up to 500 ppm in 30 hrs. And hence was selected further for whole genome sequencing. This strain showed maximum similarity to members of the order Enterobacteriales and was closest to Enterobacter cloacae of this group.

  • With regards to the samples of tomato, in crops were traditional practices were implemented, pesticide residues were found belonging to the chemical groups of OF (chlorpyrifos and phenthoate) and n-methyl carbamates (carbofuran and 3- hydroxycarbofuran), presenting the highest concentration of residues in OF. For plots with GAP the presence of residues of same pesticides n-methyl carbamates and chlorpyrifos was seen, being the only difference the finding of dimethoate.
