Mastitis is the most common disease in dairy cattle and the costliest for the dairy farming industry, as it lowers milk yield and quality. Mastitis occurs as a result of interactions between microorganisms and the individual genetic predispositions of each animal.

The livestock insurance program for dairy farmers in Vietnam targeting various acute diseases began in 2011 as a pilot project; however, due to vaccination campaigns, outbreaks of such diseases are rare. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of mastitis and reproductive failure-which chronically affect the farming economy-on the decision to participate in the insurance program.

Discriminant function is a multivariate technique for studying the extent to which different groups diverge from one another. The aim of this study was to identify the factors discriminating between ‘clinical and subclinical mastitis, ‘clinical and chronic mastitis’ and ‘subclinical and chronic mastitis’ using linear discriminant function analysis.

o investigate the changes that occur in inflammatory mediators and reproductive hormones levels in mastitis crossbred cows, the crossbred cows were screened for SCM incidence (24) by mCMT, SCC, electric conductivity of milk and abnormal milk. Based on this, the cows were divided as group I (n=8) - no clinical symptom of mastitis (healthy), group II (n=8) - showing chronic sub-clinical mastitis (SCM), group III (n=8) - showing clinical mastitis symptoms (CM). Blood samples were collected from group I and II the cows at weekly intervals from day 54 to 138 of lactation.

Mastitis, an economically important disease causes heavy economic losses in dairy cattle associated with poor quality and quantity of milk, milk discard after treatment and increased cost of veterinary services. Escherichia coli is reported to be the major environmental pathogen associated with clinical mastitis

Escherichia coli is one of the most commonly infecting bacterial etiology of the Bovine mastitis. The coliform mastitis is the most difficult type to treat due to increase in antibiotic resistance and generally cause recurrent and chronic form of mastitis.

In the present study 105 numbers of microbial isolates were isolated from 96 milk samples and were processed as per routine method of microbial isolation. Various types of tea extracts like black tea and green tea were used in combination with antibiotic discs obtained from HiMedia, Mumbai. The synergistic effects of antibiotics and tea extracts against resistant bovine pathogens lead to new choices for development of combination therapy during chronic mastitis.

Bovine mastitis, the most significant disease of dairy herds. It has a huge effect on dairy farming economics due to the reduction in milk production and treatment cost. The severity of this problem can be classify into subclinical, clinical and chronic form and its degree is dependent on the nature of the causative pathogen, age of animal, immunological status, health status and lactation status of the animal. Subclinical mastitis is difficult to detect due to absence of any visible indications.

Among the various mastitis pathogens, Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is identified as a chief etiological agent responsible for subclinical and chronic mastitis. Samples were collected from the clinically affected cattle showing typical symptoms of mastitis. 156 samples were screened by clinical symptoms specific for mastitis from the delta region of Tamilnadu. On the basis of cultural and biochemical properties, 52 isolates were presumptively identified as S. aureus. These 52 isolates were subjected to antibiotic sensitivity test, for which 15 antibiotic discs were used.

Nagpuri buffalo is native to Nagpur region of Maharashtra. The Nagpuri buffaloes are moderately good milk producers. Their milk is of very good quality containing around 7.7 percent of fat. Most of the people especially children depend on local vendors for buffalo milk. Alteration in physicochemical /microbiological parameters has direct impact on the quality of milk. Growing evidence those foods borne pathogen directly or indirectly causes or predispose man to chronic diseases.

The genetic markers in inflammatory responses during mastitis afford a reasonable way for improving milk production in the Egyptian buffalo breed. Among them is the interleukin 8 Receptor Gene (IL8RB) (CXCR2); a chemokine receptor gene augments the neutrophil migration during infection. To understand its role better during mastitis in Egyptian buffalos, twenty-five dairy animals representing the normal, sub-clinically, clinically and chronically affected buffalos were randomly selected from different districts.

Louis Pasteur (1822–1985) was an amazing, persevering, perceptive and determined scientist who today is widely regarded as the father of the “Germ Theory” and bacteriology. He is revered for possessing the most important qualities of a scientist: he had an unrivalled ability to scrutinise data on almost any subject and then to develop profound and often fundamental questions from them. He had an uncanny ability to identify the solutions to problems based on analytical scrutiny of data – even without any of the sophisticated statistical tools we have today.
