Chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora Tzvelve)

Ten genotypes of chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora Tzvelve) were assessed for 12 quantitative and qualitative traits to study the path analysis of different parameters with yield components and their direct and indirect effects on flower yield. Genotypic path coefficient analysis revealed that flower yield per plant was directly and positively influenced by number of flowers per plant, individual flower weight, days to flower bud initiation and shelf life of flowers.

Ten genotypes of chrysanthemum were evaluated under naturally-ventilated polyhouse in Completely Randomized Block Design during the year 2017-18 to determine genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance for different quantitative and qualitative traits, based on which selection may be made. Analysis of Variance showed significant differences among genotypes for all the characters studied.

Ten genotypes of chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora Tzvelve) were assessed for 12 different growth, flowering, flower yield and quality traits to study the association of different parameters with flower yield per plant (g). In the present study, days to flower bud initiation and number of flowers showed highly significant and positive association with flower yield per plant (g) at both genotypic and phenotypic levels.

The present investigations entitled, “Studies on postharvest handling of loose flowers of chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora Tzvelve) cultivars ‘SolanShringar’ and ‘Surf’ were carried out at Department of Floriculture and Landscape Architecture, Dr Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan (H.P) during 2016- 2017.Study done to find best packaging material in different storage durations and conditions. Experiments were conducted in a Completely Randomized Design (factorial).
