This study investigated the bioaccumulation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the edible saltwater clam Meretrix sp. under laboratory conditions. The clams were collected from the Can Gio coastal area and transported alive in an icebox to the laboratory on the same day. Before the exposure experiment, the tested clams were kept in artificial seawater under laboratory conditions for 20 days.

Study on raising Meretrix lyrata (M.lyrata) clam in medium containing copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) at different concentrations for 28 days to assess the bioaccumulation ability of needles This type of clam into the body. Clam culture environment is prepared by dissolving metal into the water phase of rearing tanks (containing seawater, sediment and clam collected from Tien river estuary in Tan Thanh commune, Go Cong Dong district, Tien Giang province). with initial concentrations: 30 µg Cu / L and 50 µg Pb / L (abbreviated to 30Cu-50Pb), 60Cu-150Pb, 100Cu-300Pb and 200Cu-600Pb.

Commercially available molluscan shellfish such as oysters and clams were collected monthly along the Rochepark, Thoothukudi and brought to the laboratory in moist condition immediately after harvesting and analysed for the prevalence of virulence genes of V. parahaemolyticus. The meat was carefully shucked (meat and fluid) from a pool of 6 – 8 oysters/clams and used. Prevalence of tdh, trh genes of V. parahaemolyticus was confirmed by PCR as well as Direct plating method (TCBS). The present study revealed that the effect of season on the presence of virulence genes of V.

This paper deals with the purification and the partial char-acterization of glutathione S-transferase (GST) isoforms from the clam Ruditapes decussatus. For the first step of purification, two affinity columns, reduced glutathione (GSH)–agarose and S-hexyl GSH–agarose, were mounted in series. Four affinity fractionswere thus recovered. Further purification was performed using anion exchange chroma-tography. Seven fractions, whichpresent aGSTactivitywith 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (CDNB) as substrate, were collected and analyzed by RP-HPLC....

Blood clam (Scapharca subcrenata) was collected monthly from Pusan, Korea to investigate the reproductive cycle and the occurrence of mud worm (Polydora sp.). Histological observation showed that S. subcrenata started their gametogensesis as early as March when environmental temperature increased. Most of clams underwent ripe stage in June and some of observed samples already spawned in July.
