The present study was carried out to know the prevalence of superficial fungal infection caused by dermatophytes and to speciate them which may help to control the infection. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of superficial fungal skin infections caused by dermatophytes, to study the clinic-mycological pattern and to speciate the isolated ones using standard mycological tests. This was a prospective study carried out over a period of one year from June 2014 to May 2015.

This study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of fungal agents involved in chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and to analyse its clinico-mycological profile. Fifty patients with clinical suspicion of CRS attending a tertiary care hospital during a 6 months period were included in this analysis.

Dermatophytoses broadly includes superficial fungal infection of skin, hair and nail. In India dermatophytic infection are very common superficial fungal infections due to hot and humid climate in most of the part of country. A study was planned to find clinicomycological profile of dermatophytic infection in our arid zone along with study of predisposing factors and to find out species commonly involved. To guide the clinician regarding therapeutic options antifungal susceptibility was carried out.

Basidiobolomycosis is a very rare form of subcutaneous mycosis often confused with other clinically mimicking conditions. Poor clinical suspicion and lack of experience due to its rarity sometimes misdirects clinicians, pathologists and microbiologists. Wrongful diagnosis may lead to inappropriate and fatal interventions. This present endeavour is aimed at a thorough study of those cases to readdress the challenges in diagnosis and management from eastern India.

To study the various fungi causing otomycosis with its isolation and identification of species from the clinical laboratory of Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences, Ballari, ear swab samples are collected from the department of ENT which is suspected for fungal cause of otomycosis. KOH mount was done for the presence of fungal elements and also Grams staining of the sample is done to look for uniformly stained Gram positive fungal elements. Another ear swab from the same ear is directly streaked on the SDA slant for fungal culture.

Dermatophytosis refers to superficial fungal infection of keratinized tissues, caused by group of keratinophilic dermatophytes. The prevalence of dermatophyte infection varies with different geographic area and climatic conditions. It is one of the common fungal infection but in recent times it is one of the neglected disease. The present study was aimed to assess the clinicomycological profile of dermatophytosis to identify the various infecting dermatophyte species and to compare clinical diagnosis with KOH microscopy and culture.
