This paper spalls out the hydro-geological framework , delineates the regional disposition of fresh and saline ground water bodies , recommends special techniques of production wall constructions , stressed the need for scientific management of fresh ground water resources and rigorous monitoring to safeguard against salt water contamination.

The coastal belt of Odisha extends over 480 kilometers from mouth of Subarnarekha river in the north to the Chilika lake in the south. The plain occupies the outfall regions of major rivers like Mahanadi, Bramhani, Baitarani, Subarnarekha and Rusikulya. It covers one of the most fertile land in the eastern parts of the country and support the major food grain production in the state. But due to the proximity of sea, cyclonic hazard and saltwater ingress through tidal channels have restricted the availability of acceptable quality of water for irrigation as well as drinking.

A roving survey was conducted during Kharif 2017 and 2018 in five major rice growing ecosystems viz., Kabini and Kaveri, Hilly upland, Thungabhadra and Upper Krishna, Thunga and Bhadra and Coastal belts to know the incidence and severity of grain discolouration in Karnataka. Grain discolouration was recorded in all the samples collected from major rice growing ecosystems.

The study area was purposively selected and the total economics involved in this system was analyzed.

Seat-belt reminders should be introduced in a step-wise approach to all new vehicles. First to all driver seats, secondly to all front passenger seats and then back seats. In parallel retro-fitting of vehicles with seat-belt reminders to all seats should be developed. The number of seat-belt reminders to be included in all manufactured cars should be increased through a combination of measures. Firstly, fiscal incentives should be provided to encourage their take up by consumers.

Ennore Creek becomes the pollution point in Bay of Bengal which influences the marine resources and productivity of the region. This coastal belt in the neighboring areas of the city is viewed as dumping sites for industrial effluents and disposing domestic waste (Arunagiri et al., 1998). The natural wealth of the creek is now being eroded to mere sewage channel (Jayaprakash, 2003). The Ennore Thermal Power Plant uses the river waters as coolant and lets out the warm water, in the Ennore Creek.
