  • The present investigations was carried out to study the effect of hot water seed treatment comprised of different ranges of temperature (47-49, 50-52 and 53-55 °C) and discrete duration of time (30, 45 and 60 min.). The seeds of bell pepper and their most important seed-borne pathogens (Alternaria spp., Curvuleria spp., Penicillium spp., Fusarium spp. Colletotrichum spp.) have been investigated in laboratory. Thee numbers of infected seeds were observed and recorded daily and per cent incidence was evaluated.

  • Fusarium, Colletotrichum and Penicillium spp. are the well-known pathogen that causes post-harvest plant diseases of the crops. Mainly it influences the fruit crop which plays the most important role in the economy of the many fruit-producing countries, so for the management of these post-harvest pathogens, it should need a specific management strategy. So, keeping in view the study was investigated in the laboratory of the Dept. of Mycology and Plant Pathology, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU, Varanasi.

  • Endophytes are novel sources of natural bioactive compounds. This study seeks endophytes that produce the anticancer enzyme L-asparaginase, to harness their potential for mass production. Four plants with anticancer properties; Cymbopogon citratus, Murraya koenigii, Oldenlandia diffusa and Pereskia bleo, were selected as host plants. L-Asparaginase-producing endophytes were detected by the formation of pink zones on agar, a result of hydrolyzes of asparagine into aspartic acid and ammonia that converts the phenol red dye indicator from yellow (acidic condition) to pink (alkaline condition).
