In cultural characteristics six characters like colony colour, colony diameter, pigmentation, margin type, growth pattern and aerial hyphae were recorded. Maximum radial growth i.e. 90 mm was given by isolate Rb-07 of Sabalpur village followed by Rb-02 and Rb-12. Least radial growth of 45 mm was given by Rb-03 isolate of Nandpur village. Pigmentation was also observed in four isolates. Aerial hyphae were produced by six isolates.

Cultural and morphological characters of different Xap isolates were studied on nutrient agar media. Five isolates collected from different locations differed in respect of size of colony, shape of colony and colour of bacterial colony. Isolates Xap-1 and Xap-4 developed medium to large bacterial colonies. The isolates Xap-1 and Xap-3 developed small to medium sized bacterial colonies, whereas, Xap-5 produced small bacterial colonies.

Influence of culture media on growth, colony character and sporulation of Chaetomium globosum fungus
The mycelial growth rate, colony character and sporulation pattern of Chaetomium globosum, grown on seven different culture media viz., Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA), Czapek’s Dox media, Yeast Extract Agar, Sabouraud media, Oatmeal Agar, Malt Extract Agar and Lignocellulose Agar (LCA) were observed after seven days of incubation at 25±1°C. The colony diameter, culture characteristics and sporulation of Chaetomium globosum were greatly influenced by the type of growth medium used.

A study was conducted in vitro condition to analyse the morphology and efficacy of bio agent, plant extract and some chemical against P. mangiferae that were collected from different districts of Manipur. The morphological character under study consists of colony and conidial characteristics such as colour, shape, size and appendages. The cultural growth colour of P. mangiferae on PDA differed from concolour to versicolour fuliginous. The conidial shape varied from oval and spherical to elliptical with prominent appendages.

Black banded disease of mango, caused by Peziotrichum corticolum (Massee) Subramanian, is becoming severe for the last three to four years in all the mango growing regions. Morphological and cultural characteristics of the pathogen were studied. The identity of the fungus was confirmed. The fungus showed maximum radial growth on host extract dextrose agar on 12th day after incubation at 27±1oC. Culture of P. corticolum exhibited diversity with respect to cultural characters like type of the growth, mycelial colour, pigmentation and colony margin.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines CAUTI for those patients who have an indwelling catheter in place for 48 h or more and symptoms such as fever or chills, new onset of burning pain, urgency or frequency if not catheterized at that point of time, change in urine character, flank or suprapubic pain or tenderness or change or decrease in mental or functional status in patients. CAUTI is usually presence of at least 10³ colony-forming units (cfu)/mL of 1 or 2 micro-organisms by urine culture.

Diseased sesame samples were collected from the major growing regions of Andhra Pradesh for molecular and cultural characterization of Alternaria sesami. The collected isolates were characterized based on their conidial length, breadth and beak length and cultural characters (colour of the mycelium, growth on the PDA medium). Of the 12 isolates, most of the isolates were white in their colony colour which later turned into grayish brown, while a few isolates were brown with fluffy growth at the centre.

In this study, the fifteen isolates of Trichoderma were obtained from rhizospheric soil samples of rice, soybean and mungbean from various locations of Pantnagar and Dehradun. These isolates were characterized based on their cultural and morphological characteristics. The cultural characteristics like colony colour, presence or absence of concentric rings, surface topography, pigmentation on the lower side of the plate, time of first appearance of green conidia and their growth at various temperatures were determined on the basal medium Potato Dextrose Agar.

Sclerotium wilt/ rot of potato caused by Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. is one of the major soil borne diseases of potato causing heavy losses every year. Ten isolates varied with respect to morphological characters. The colour of mycelium was light buff to cottony white. The sclerotial initiation started between 5th and 9 th day in different isolates. The growth rate was excellent in DSr1, DSr2 and DSr3 isolates. The colour of sclerotia was dark brown in DSr1 and DSr3; brown in DSr2, DSr4, BSr1 and HSr1 while it was light brown in BSr3, HSr2 and HSr3.

Cultural and morphological characters of fifteen isolates of Sclerotium oryzae Catt. collected from different rice growing areas in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states were studied. Significant differences in growth, mycelial dry weights and sclerotial characters were observed among the fifteen isolates grown on PDA and PDB. All the 15 isolates were divided into two groups based on the growth pattern on PDA. Group 1 consists of ten isolates SO2, SO3, SO5, SO6, SO7, SO10, SO11, SO12, SO14 and SO15 which exhibited fast growth rate in terms of colony diameter with a range of 80 mm to 83 mm.

Current research efforts are directed towards native entomopathogenic fungi which are highly virulent to insect pests to develop efficient and eco-friendly bio-pesticides. From the insect cadavers fifteen different fungal isolates were isolated on DOC2-50% selective media and were identifying as isolates of Aspergillus tamari, A. niger and A. flavus. All the fifteen isolates showed variation in all the morphological characters studied. Highest mean colony diameter (mm) was reported in isolate EPF-14 at all the time intervals.
