Commercial dairy farmers

Human- animal relationships are subjected to two primary dimensions: those of affection and utility, which combine together to give a proper shape in animal welfare often expressed in commercial terms when farmers are involved in running a business on livestock. The present study was carried out in purposively selected commercial small holders‟ dairy farms in and around Guwahati under Kamrup (Metro) District of Assam. A total of 60 dairy farmers were selected based on apparently similar shed and animals following minimum scientific management.

A standardized knowledge test was developed to measure the extent of knowledge of commercial dairy farmers towards brucellosis in dairy animals. Initially 32 items list was prepared which were related to different aspects of brucellosis and its sign, symptoms, modes of transmission, vaccination and prevention and control in dairy animals were selected with discussion of expertsin the field of Veterinary Extension Education, Extension Education, and were from various Agricultural and Veterinary Universities.

A myriad of mobile technologies purport to help individuals change or maintain healthrelated behaviours, for instance by increasing self-awareness or motivation. To disseminate the information regarding Brucellosis prevention in dairy animals a mobile application called “Brucellosis Advisor App” was developed. This paper is devoted to explore the perceived feedback of commercial dairy farmers of Haryana and Punjab state on effectiveness of android mobile application.

In Pakistan, a two-tiered action plan is required: to develop systems, which provide profitability for the smallholder and maintain quality through the supply chain, while assisting the development of larger scale commercial farms. We believe the co-existence of both kinds of farms is the reality of dairying in Pakistan and development efforts must provide solutions for both smallholders and commercial farmers. The Chinese model of farm development may provide a good example. Milk production in China is very diverse.

The milk production system in Pakistan is characterized by large numbers of small, geographically dispersed dairy producers who have marketable surpluses of milk but face diseconomies of scale in marketing it to demand centers in distant urban areas. The traditional middlemen who procure milk from rural areas close to the cities offer at best modest returns to the farmers. In the past couple of decades, two institutional developments have taken place in the milk processing sector.
